Indian cricket team’s all members, including five isolated players, and support staff have tested negative for coronavirus after undergoing an RT-PCR test on Sunday.

Amidst an investigation into a potential biosecurity protocols breach after five India players; Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Navdeep Saini had gone to a restaurant in Melbourne, the news of all the members testing negative will come as a big relief for players, experts and fans who were worried.

Indian Cricket Team’s 5 Members Made Headlines After A Fan Tweets Showing Them Eating Indoors

Indian cricket team’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Navdeep Saini made headlines after a fan, in a series of tweets, showed the five of them eating indoors at a restaurant in Melbourne on New Year’s day breaching bio bubble.

“Playing members of the Indian Cricket Team and support staff underwent an RT-PCR Test for Covid-19 on January 3, 2021. All tests have returned negative results,” the BCCI said.

The fan also claimed to have paid the bill of the Indian players at the restaurant besides adding that he had hugged Rishabh Pant before issuing a clarification that social distance was maintained.

However, he put out a clarification tweet the next day, saying, “Pant never hugged me it was all said in excitement we maintained social distance all thru Apologies for miscommunication.”

The third Test of Australia vs India four-match series is scheduled to start on January 7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) while the 4th Test at Brisbane is in doubt following India’s unwillingness to abide by stringent quarantine protocols laid by Queensland authorities.

The series is currently tied at 1-1 with India bouncing back from their defeat in Adelaide by outclassing the hosts in Melbourne. He was praised for his fielding and bowling changes but also led from the front, scoring a gritty century.

India were dismissed for 36 registering their lowest Test score at Adelaide before bouncing back in Melbourne. Even in absence of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami, Indian bowlers along with stand-in skipper toiled hard and their good work was rewarded as India won to level the series 1-1 with 2 Tests remaining.
