Parvez Rasool on the challenges of bowling at Bangalore

It wouldn’t be wrong to comment that the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore is a graveyard for bowlers. But life for bowlers gets even more uphill if they are spinners. With short boundaries and a rather flat track, life for spinners is incredibly hard indeed.

Parvez Rasool of the Royal Challengers Bangalore reiterated the challenges of bowling spin at Bangalore and spoke about his ways of dealing with the conditions in Bangalore. Rasool was simply brilliant in the Royal Challengers’ first game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad as he castled Shikhar Dhawan.

“It is very challenging to bowl at the Chinnaswamy stadium, especially for a spinner. But thanks to our coach Daniel Vettori I am able to do well. I keep talking to him and he is helping me learn how to bowl to different kind of batsmen under different situations,” Rasool said.

The off spinner admitted that IPL was an ideal platform for any cricketer to make a mark. Rasool has played an ODI for India in 2014, against Bangladesh. “For any player it is important to perform in the IPL to get noticed. I have started off well in the tournament and hope to continue playing well,” Rasool added.

Speaking about the scenario of cricket and his status back home in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Rasool said, “In a way I feel a lot of pressure back home. At the same time, it also serves as a motivation for me to do well. IPL by itself is a challenge for me and it is very important for me to do well. I make sure I keep performing well so that youngsters in my valley can look up to me as an inspiration. I am aware of the increasing talent in J&K and I am looking forward to many more players playing in the IPL,” Rasool.
