This week’s Smackdown started as John Cena came out to the arena. He told that he came back to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at Summerslam.
He said that Smackdown with Roman Reigns as the champion was terrible. Fans deserved a better champion than Roman Reigns. Fans chanted Cena’s name. Cena then called Roman. The promo was excellent. Paul Heyman came out. He said Cens was not on Roman’s level and made fun of Cena.

Match 1 – Finn Balor defeated Sami Zayn
The match was good. It was booked for around six minutes and it was fun to watch. Finn Balor pinned Sami Zayn with his Coup De Grace finishing maneuver.
The new Mr. Money in the Bank Big E came out to the arena. He entered the ring and talked about his happiness of winning the Money in the Bank ladder match. Apollo Crews came out to the arena along with Commander Azeez. Before he could say much Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, King Nakamura, Cesaro interfered. They all wanted the IC Championship. They all fought unofficially and the babyface guys stood tall.
The next part of the event took place on the Miami Gardens.
Match 2 – Angelo Dawkins defeated Chad Gable
This was a short and cool match. The feud between the Alpha Academy and The Street Profits is going on slowly. Angelo Dawkins pinned Chad Gable with a Powerbomb.
Match 3 – WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defeated Carmella to retain
This was a rematch from last week’s SmackDown and the match was weaker from last week. It was not a very competitive match for the champion and in only four minutes time, she managed to beat Carmella. She pinned Carmella with Kiss of Death.
Backstage Baron Corbin met Kevin Owens and apologized for last week’s behavior. He once again asked for help. Owens helped Corbin this time by giving him some money. Corbin said this would help him a lot. Shotzi and Nox accidentally hit Corbin on the mid section mistakenly. Ziggler and Roode took his money and flew away.
Edge came out to the arena next. He said he should be standing as the WWE Universal champion but he was not and that was because of Seth Rollins. He said that he would take revenge. Seth Rollins came out. Edge asked him to enter the ring. Seth entered the ring with a heel promo and then he made fun of Edge. Edge then attacked Seth. Seth tried to fight back but he failed as Edge beat him down.
Match 4 – Toni Storm defeated Zelina Vega
This was the main roster debut of Toni Storm and she was pretty impressive in her first match on the main roster. Toni pinned Vega with a very impressive Face First.
Match 5 – Jimmy Uso defeated Dominik Mysterio
This match was booked for over six minutes and it was pretty I want to watch. Jimmy at the end cheated to win the match as his brother Jey assisted him with the pin fall.
After the match, Roman Reigns came out to the arena. He made fun of the promo of John Cena and said his promo was repetitive. He then answered Cena’s challenge with a ‘No’.
Finn Balor came out to the arena. Roman wanted Finn to acknowledge him. Finn said if he was not interested in John Cena’s challenge maybe he would be interested in his challenge. Roman accepted the challenge. The two individuals stood face to face as this week’s SmackDown went off the air.
Overall, it was a good and fun show. This is not very common to watch a two placed single weekly event. It was indeed a fun experience. But the week was mostly based on promos, and the matches were a little weak. There were a total of 5 matches this week but none of them were very good. We give this week’s show a 2.5 stars out of 5.
