Summerslam 2021 was one of the best pay per view events of WWE in recent years. There are some shocking returns that completely rocked the show. The matches were good as well. Let us go through all the matches of the night one by one.
Match 1 – Randy Orton and Matt Riddle defeated AJ Styles and Omos to become new WWE RAW Tag Team Champions

This was a good match to start the event. However, the match presented AJ Styles as a terrible jobber. Being one of the best wrestlers on the roster, he deserves better treatment. Randy Orton pinned AJ Styles to pick up the victory for his side and win the titles.
Match 2 – Alexa Bliss defeated Eva Marie
This must have been the worst match of the night. It was not even four minute long. The only talking point of the match is Eva Marie fought in this match herself. Alexa pinned Eva with a DDT and Doudrop made fun of Eva after that.
Match 3 – Damian Priest defeated Sheamus to become the new WWE United States Champion
This was a hell of a fight from start to bottom and it was quite enjoyable as well. The match was booked for around 15 minutes and both wrestlers were quite good. It was a dominant victory of Damian Priest with a Swinging Face First.
Match 4 – WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Usos defeated The Mysterios to retain
This was a fun match to watch, it was not the best match of the night but it was good. Jey Uso pinned Rey Mysterio with Usos Splash to retain the championships for his side.
Match 5 – Becky Lynch defeated Bianca Belair to become the new Smackdown Women’s Champion
Sasha Banks was not clear to wrestle, therefore, Carmella was announced as the opponent. Becky Lynch made a surprise return and drove out Carmella. She challenged Becky and defeated really easily. Everyone was rooting for her to return on RAW. Our prediction here came true, we predicted Becky would return on Smackdown.
Match 6 – Drew McIntyre defeated Jinder Mahal
We expected a good match from these two ultimately it was more of a domination from Drew. And Drew needed to win this match. But it could have been a better match no doubt.
Match 7 – Charlotte Flair defeated Nikki ASH & Rhea Ripley to become the new WWE RAW Women’s Champion
What else could we say? Wherever Charlotte Flair is involved she will win. No matter fans want her to win or not. If she keeps winning like this, she will be a ninety nine times champion by the end. She is soon going to be the most hated wrestler if WWE keeps overpushing her like this. The match was good, nothing special. Charlotte made Nikki submit with the Figure 8 to win.
Match 8 – Edge defeated Seth Rollins by submission
The biggest talking point about this match is Edge entering in the Brood theme. He made the Brood entrance as well. He should use the Brood theme more theme, it was iconic. About the match, it was amazing. One of the best matches of the night indeed. Edge made Rollins submit with the Sleeper Crossface.
Match 9 – WWE Champion Bobby Lashley defeated Goldberg by knockout to retain
This is possibly the best match of Goldberg since his return. Lashley gave a great heelish performance. He injured Goldberg’s knee which knocked him out. Even after the end of the match, he kept attacking Goldberg with a steel chair. At the end, Lashley attacked Goldberg’s son and knocked him out with the Hurt Lock.
Match 10 – WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defeated John Cena
It was an excellent match, arguably the best match of the night. The biggest talking point of this match was the return of Brock Lesnar. So once again we are going to see Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar. But this time, it will be way bigger.
Roman defeated John Cena with a spear. It was such a dominant victory for Cena. It was a twenty three minutes long match. After the match, Brock Lesnar returned with a new look. It was a little shocking and exciting to watch. Brock and Roman stood face to face for a while then Reigns left. Brock Lesnar stood tall as Summerslam 2021 went off the air.
Overall it was one of the best pay per view events in recent years. From top to bottom everything was fun. The returns of Becky Lynch and Brock Lesnar where indeed the best parts of the night. Edge making the entrance on the Brood theme was also very fun to watch. But Charlotte Flair winning again was a huge downgrade. We give 4 stars out of 5.
