England and India’s players were involved in a heated confrontation in the Lord’s Long Room after the third day’s action in the second Test. There were tense scenes in the Lord’s pavilion which were prompted after Jasprit Bumrah bowled a barrage of bouncers to James Anderson in a ten-ball over.

England skipper Joe Root and India skipper Virat Kohli are believed to have exchanged words on their way to the dressing rooms as things looked like they could go out of hand.

England And India’s Players Were Involved In A Heated Confrontation In the Lord’s

Earlier, England pacer James Anderson also opened up about what happened between him and the Indian players during the final session of the third day of the Lord’s Test. In the second innings of the Lord’s Test, James Anderson was seen having an animated chat with Jasprit Bumrah after the Indian pacer unleashed a barrage of bouncers at him. After that, tempers flared and both teams engaged in verbals throughout the game.

“I was angry at the end. The emotion got the better of me and I felt I had to say something. I felt bad for doing that because it drew attention away from Rooty celebrating an amazing inning as he came off the field. I apologized to him afterward for that but the emotion got the better of me. It happens sometimes,” wrote Anderson in his column for the Telegraph.

Because of coronavirus restrictions, the Long Room, which is normally packed with members, was instead being used as the player’s dining room during the match. India won the Test by 151 runs, in an ill-tempered affair.

There were “tense scenes” at the conclusion of the third day’s play, following repeated short-pitched bowling by Jasprit Bumrah at England tailender James Anderson. The report says England captain Joe Root and opposite number Virat Kohli exchanged words as the situation threatened to get out of control.

The Indian pacers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, went after England No.11 when he came out to bat on Day 3 of the Test. That led to flaring of tempers between the players of both teams for the remainder of the match, which the visitors won by 151 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah bowled a 10-ball over to James Anderson, in which he overstepped four times. In that over, he bowled a few short pitch deliveries to the veteran pacer. The Lancashire man didn’t take it nicely and had a little war of words with the Indian pacer.
