KKR defeated RCB in a high scoring match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore just a few moments. RCB had the match in control before Andre Russell and Yusuf Pathan took the game away from RCB and registered two important points. RCB did everything right apart from bowling well in the death. KKR won the match by 5 wickets.

KKR won the toss and choose to field. Chris Gayle who did not play a few matches due to the birth of new born baby. He returned to the squad in today’s match which was good news for RCB fans. Chris Gayle again disappointed the crowd. He played the first ball carefully before hitting a huge six of Morne Morkel bowling and the next ball he was dismissed for 7 in 7 balls which created pressure on RCB famed batting line up.

  1. Key partnership between Kohli and KL Rahul

After the wicket of Chris Gayle, captain Kohli and KL Rahul steadied the innings with excellent shots. KL Rahul put the pressure on their key role bowler who plundered him. Kohli joined the act with brilliant shots. Kohli and Rahul put on 80 runs for the second wicket in 9 overs. KL Rahul completed his half century before getting out to Piyush Chawla.

At the start of 15h over RCB were struggling at 112 for 3 with Kohli batting. He was dropped by Gambhir but could not take the advantage of it as he was dismissed for well-made 52 in the next over. In the 18th over Sachin Baby and Watson took 23 runs hitting 3 fours and 1 six. Yadav bowled two no balls in that over. Russell conceded 3 boundaries in the 19th over before Baby was dismissed for 16 off 7 balls. In the last over Stuart Binny 16 runs and was dismissed after that. Watson was dismissed in the last ball that scored 34 runs off 21 balls. RCB ended with a competitive total of 185. In the last three RCB scored 54 runs and 73 in the last five over which powered RCB to another big total.

 

  1. Excellent powerplay bowling by RCB

Chasing a target of 186 to win, RCB needed a good start. They got the start that they wanted by picking by the wicket of Robin Uthappa in the very first over. After that Gambhir and Lynn struggled to time the ball. All the bowlers created pressure on KKR batting line-up. Chahal was brought on by Kohli in the 5th over and Lynn was dismissed by Chahal for 15. In the power play overs, RCB bowlers restricted KKR to 37 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

 

  1. Brilliant partnership between Yusuf Pathan and Russell

Russell and Pathan came to the crease in the 11th over when KKR was struggling at 69 for 4. Russell was given 2 lives which changed the momentum of the game. Both of them smashed some excellent shots. They targeted Shamsi and other RCB bowlers which made the life tough for the RCB bowlers. Both of them put on 7.2 overs. Russell was dismissed in the 18th over and played a match-winning knock of 39 off 24 balls. Yusuf Pathan was not out on 55. KKR won the match by 5 wickets.
