Manchester United ready to pay €80m for Atletico super-star 1

Spanish side Atletico Madrid have been one of the best teams in Europe this season.

They booked themselves a place in the final of the Champions League this season after the 2-1 loss to Bayern in the second leg. The La Liga outfit made it to the final on away goals and Antonie Griezmann scored the all important goal at the Allianz Arena in the second leg.

That shows the importance of the Frenchman to the club in the whole season.

He has notched up more than 30 goals in all competition this season for Atletico Madrid and like in the last summer, he is now the feature of a number of rumors doing to rounds.

Recent reports from the El Confidencial state that English Premier League side Manchester United are desperate to land the 25-year old this summer.

Griezmann who is rated around €80m has been a stand-out player for the Atleti side this season. His pace and finishing abilities have helped the side to within touching distance of the La Liga title and also the Champions League.

And the quality he has shown has now seen Manchester United push the player to the top of the priority list alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The report also suggested that the English franchise are not worried about the asking price for the 25-year old and are ‘ready to pay whatever it takes’ to bring him to Old Trafford this summer.

The Sun have gone on to report that Jose Mourinho, who is expected to replace Louis van Gaal this summer is a big fan of the Frenchman and that he has urged the club to take initial steps in luring him to the Premier League next season.

Though the asking price is on the higher side, with goals against Barcelona and Bayern, a place in the Champions League final and an important role in the home side for the EURO16 in France makes Griezmann’s price tag look like a bargain.

With Martial the only recognized senior striker in the squad, United will have to spend big to improve the depth and quality in the squad and Griezmann will provide the perfect opportunity for the Red Devils.

But do you think Antoine Griezmann will leave Atletico Madrid this summer?
