The Custody of Dominik storyline came into existence back in 2005. It is considered as one of the weirdest storylines in WWE history, even though it was pretty fun and interesting to watch.

After losing to Rey Mysterio at the Great American Bash pay per view event of 2005 Eddie Guerrero revealed that he was the biological father of Dominick. The claim went too far that Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero fought in a Ladder Match at SummerSlam of the same year, and the custody of Dominick was on the line.

A Look Back At The Custody Of Dominik Storyline

Even though it was all kayfabe, and Eddie Guerrero is not the father of Dominik. It is the same Dominick who is the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion along with Rey Mysterio today. He was only 8 year old back then.

It may seem a little weird but it is also an example of the storylines of that time. WWE used to try different things back then. Definitely there were some bad storylines like the Katie Vick angle or Kane impregnating Lita storylines but there were some amazing storylines as well. At least WWE tried to keep their audience entertained unlike nowadays they take fans as liabilities where fans have to watch whatever they come up with.

Every ongoing feud used to have back stories back in those days. Sometimes they were personal and sometimes they remained strict to wrestling storylines. Moreover there is nothing meaningless back in those days.

Unlike now, when almost none of the feuds have any kind of storylines. It is reported that every time the creative team pitches a storyline idea Vince McMahon cancels most of them. This is one of the biggest reasons why WWE you’ve lacking good storylines these days as per reports.

The Custody of Dominik storyline received mixed reaction from the fans and the critics. Some believed it was a great storyline and some believed it was not a good storyline for a professional wrestling show.

One of the biggest reasons the storyline faced major criticism was the back to back defeats of Eddie Guerrero to Rey Mysterio. Eddie started to lose to Rey from WrestleMania 21 and kept losing all matches till SummerSlam of the same year. It was not a good look for Eddie’s career back in the time.

We hope to see more storylines like this more often in WWE. Without good storylines professional wrestling does not seen that interesting anymore. And with the time the WWE is going through right now, only good storylines can save them.
