Sting has always been treated as a main event star wherever he went. Even in his short WWE Run, he was a main event guy. Even though he failed to win most of his matches in WWE he was still a main event star. He was one of the wrestlers who became famous outside of WWE and even at the age of 62, he is still a main event guy in the All Elite Wrestling. It is all because of the name he earned for himself during his time in WCW mostly. He was very popular in TNA Wrestling as well.

Kurt Angle Says Sting Never Played Politics In Wrestling
Whereas a lot of big names in professional wrestling always pushed themselves for the main event in wrestling. Hulk Hogan has a similar reputation at wherever he went. According to Vince Russo and a lot of other wrestlers and workers in WCW, Hogan always pushed for himself using his creative freedom. One of the notable incidents of such is the incident from Bash at the Beach pay per view event of WCW from 2000. Hogan did the same thing at TNA Wrestling as well according to a lot of wrestlers.
But “The Icon” Sting was beyond such politics. He has never been a politician in a professional wrestling. In spite of constantly being on the main event scene in every professional wrestling he worked in for most of the time in his career, he never pushed his name for the main event, according to the WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, who revealed that Sting was not even aware of if Angle would be added on the NWA World Heavyweight Championship match in the TNA Genesis pay per view event of 2006.

Kurt Angle who is a six times World Champion in WWE and a six times TNA Heavyweight Champion of the World recently spoke on the Kurt Angle Show where he said that the icon sting never played politics in wrestling. He also talked about TNA Genesis pay per view event of 2006 where Sting was unaware of the fact If Angle would be added into the NWA World Heavyweight title match. He said;
“Yes. Sting did his own thing. He didn’t want to be bothered when he was at home. I believe that he always found out what he was doing when he got to the building. I’m not surprised that Sting didn’t know that I was going to be part of that PPV match.

“That’s how Sting is. Sting is not political by any means. He’s not going to push for himself to be the champion. He’s a good guy, and he’s very fair about wanting to be part of the company.
“He’s not asking to be the guy in the company. He just wants to contribute. That’s what I love about Sting. He has a great attitude and he always did. I’ve never been told that Sting did anything political or try to push himself above everybody else. I was always told that he kept his mouth shut and did what he was told. That’s what I love about Sting.”
