Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians – Pollard reaches new landmark, only Gayle has been there before

While Rising Pune Supergiants have no chance of qualifying for the playoffs, the next two teams that are in the danger of not qualifying are Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore. As RCB face Mumbai Indians at their home ground, Kohli’s men need to ensure a win in almost every match to qualify for playoffs.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl as he realizes the weak-link of RCB has been bowling. Kohli brought back Gayle into the team, as Gayle on his day can win the match single-handedly. But the start that RCB got was not ideal as Kohli departed in the 2nd over and Gayle departed soon too. De Villiers couldn’t stay longer either. Thanks to some brilliant efforts from KL Rahul and Sachin Baby that RCB managed to score 151 in 20 overs.

When Mumbai Indians came into bat, Parthiv Patel got out on the 7th ball of the inning, exactly when Kohli got out for RCB. After that Rohit and Rayudu steadied innings as the total they were chasing wasn’t big. Superb catching from Stuart Binny and AB de Villiers put the pressure back on MI as the asking rate went up to 11 with 5 overs to go. Intelligent batting from Pollard and Butler ensure Mumbai Indians a successful chase in the end.
