Barcelona are leading the race for the signature of Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland after club president Joan Laporta come to an agreement with Norwegian’s agent Mino Raiola. But European Champions Chelsea are also looking to strike a deal after an unexpected Lukaku debacle this week.
The 21-year-old striker is expected to leave in the summer as his release clause of £64 million gets activated in June 2022. It will be a steal at that price and it will be up to the player to choose his next destination, every big club is likely to make a bid for him in the next summer. Borussia Dortmund are also offering him a lucrative £15 million per year contract offer, to get rid of a release clause. Haaland is currently earning £7.5 million per season at Dortmund and his super-agent Mino Raiola will demand more than £30 million per season for his client’s signature.
Haaland joined the German giants from RB Salzburg in January 2020 and scored a hat-trick on his debut as a substitute. This season Haaland missed a few fixtures due to an injury, still, he has scored 19 goals from 16 appearances. In total, the Norwegian has scored 53 goals in 53 appearances for Dortmund in just 2 years and also scored 12 goals for his country.

According to a report from Marca, Barcelona President has told his colleagues about his plans for the next summer. Signing a player like Haaland will be an ambitious move, given the financial situation the Catalan club are in. Barcelona did surprise everyone after announcing the signing of Ferran Torres from Manchester City for a reported fee of £54 million.
According to the same report, Haaland wants to be a central figure at his next club. Barcelone can offer him that position and both big-name player Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele are set for Camp Nou exits this month. Real Madrid on the other hand, have Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior performing consistently, also Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard are occupying big-name spots. Barcelone will be making funds available this month with the sale of a few players for sure.

Barcelona might face tough competition from Premier League giants Chelsea for the signature of Haaland. According to a report from the Sport Witness, Chelsea is looking to sell Romelu Lukaku and rekindle their interest in Haaland this summer. Lukaku recently created big controversy at Stamford Bridge with his remarks on returning to Inter Milan. The Belgian later apologized for his comments after a backslash from the Blues fans and getting dropped against Liverpool in their last league match.
