Virat Kohli to play against KXIP despite recent injury 1

The run-machine that is Virat Kohli has just been sensational for the last couple of years for the national team and also his IPL franchise.

His 75 off just 51 balls in a winning cause against the Kolkata Knight Riders takes his runs tally in the year to 752, breaking the record for the most runs scored in a single IPL season that was held by his RCB teammate, Chris Gayle.

His most recent knock against the KKR  came with loads of pain for the 27-year old who split his webbing attempting a catch in the first innings of the game.

Kohli was off the field for a while to get his fingers taped and came back on to the field to build that superb partnership with AB de Villiers to give them two points against the Kolkata outfit.

The skipper revealed that he was playing through pain and that he had stitches done to his hand before he could come back onto the field.

“I might need 7-8 stitches,” in an interview after the game.

The inconsistency of the Bangalore franchise will see them play yet another do or die game on Wednesday against the Kings XI Punjab outfit and it is now understood that Virat Kohli will not be taking a rest after his injury.

A former Karnataka Ranji player revealed earlier that Kohli is not too bothered about his injury and that he will surely lead his side out at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday.

“Virat will definitely play tomorrow,” Vaidya revealed.

This will be a huge boost for the RCB batting line-up that has hardly been tested past the Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers show at the top of the order.

Both batsmen are currently in the top two places for the Orange Cap and are in sizzling form. But they will have to play this way till the end of the season if they are to lift their first ever IPL trophy this season.
