The current season of the Indian Premier League has seen a number of star players leave the tournament half way through various reasons and the number has been increasing by the week.
In a mediocre season, the Kings XI Punjab franchise has now lost their third Australian player in just 3 weeks.
Earlier in the season, star batsman Shaun Marsh was on his way back to the Australia to nurse a back injury he picked up during a game couple of weeks ago.
Hard-hitting Glen Maxwell soon followed him down under due to a side strain. Both these players have not been at their best in the season and have not been missed by the franchise recently.
However, recent reports have now revealed that in-form all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has left the Indian Premier League on Tuesday.
The 26-year old has been one of the brightest players for the side and has performed with the bat and the ball in his hand. He has 146 runs in 5 innings with a strike rate of 135.18 this season and has also picked up the 8 wickets in just the 7 games.
However, according to the reports, Stoinis has left the IPL due to “personal unavoidable circumstances”.
He was at his best against the Delhi Daredevils at Mohali where he scored a thundering 44-ball 52 before picking up three wickets to restrict the chase.
He also picked up a 4-wicket haul against Mumbai Indians recently and will surely be missed by the Punjab-based franchise.
The Kings XI Punjab franchise are currently in the 7th place with 8 points from 12 games and are mathematically out of contention for a place in the qualifiers.
Injuries have surely hampered their progress but come next season, they will need to click as a group to have a chance at qualifying for the knockout stage of the competition.
