The current and two times WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura who is a former two times WWE NXT Champion recently talked about a possible World title reign at WWE. He said that he is still looking for his first World Championship in WWE.
When Shinsuke Nakamura was promoted to the main roster in 2017 he was treated as a potential main eventer. But WWE did not rush into any decision after promoting him into the main roster. By looking at his previous success and fame, WWE was quite sure that he is bound for glory.
Shinsuke Nakamura Is Looking Forward To His First World Title Run In WWE
He remained the face of the NXT throughout the entire previous year winning two back to back NXT Championships. He was extremely popular among the fans of the NXT. Fans on the main roster was also looking forward to see him as well. He appeared post Wrestlemania SmackDown for the first time on the main roster and everyone was convinced that he was destined for something big.
WWE also had big plans for him. He slowly rose onto the main event had his first glory came when he won the Royal Rumble match of 2018 by last eliminating John Cena and Roman Reigns. At WrestleMania he went on to challenge AJ styles for the WWE championship in a dream match. But surprisingly the match was a big time failure.
These two individuals are capable of producing match of the year Contender. Everyone was disappointed after this match. But poor direction ruined everything. After this match Nakamura turned heel WWE for the first time.
After losing the main event status after Wrestlemania 34, he could never regain the main event status once again. Instead he was stuck inside the endless loop of the mid card division.
But he was quite successful in the mid card division as he won several number of championships including the United States Championship two times, WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship one time, and the WWE Intercontinental Championship two times.
In fact is holding the Intercontinental championship on his shoulders right now. But it seems he will never be promoted to the main event status in WWE once again.
Shinsuke Nakamura who is a former two times WWE NXT Champion recently spoke to Tokyo Sports where he talked about a possible World title reign at WWE. He said that he is still looking for his first World Championship in WWE. He said;
“I think it was a big change for Eric Bugenhagen to arrive at his entrance this year. It seems that he had been with NXT for several years. But he was selected in a hurry because he happened to play the guitar.
“After all, I want to get involved in the highest throne. I have the Intercontinental Championship, but I often team up with Boogs, and I have more tag matches than singles. Come to think of it, everyone is in a duo. Like veterans and young people…Even in NXT, it’s like Handsome (Jiro) and KUSHIDA. Is it to increase the chances of appearing on the program together, while raising young talent by forming a combination?
“Anyway, since I came to WWE, I can achieve the Grand Slam if I get one WWE World Championship, so I would like to aim for that.”
