Playing under pressure has done wonders for us - Virat Kohli 1

It wouldn’t be surprising if Oxford decides to replace the term consistency with Virat Kohli! The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper is in an unparalleled league of his own, with his jaw dropping run making ability. If scoring centuries in a 20 over game was too mainstream, the elegant right hander scored one in a 15 over fixture against the Kings XI Punjab at Bangalore.

Rain had its impact first on, as the game was reduced to 15 overs. But Kohli and Gayle weren’t too flustered as they provided the hosts off to a rocketing start. Gayle’s 73 off 32 deliveries though, was simply overshadowed by the class of Kohli. Kohli was thrashing all bowlers and his 113 off 50 deliveries was simply enchanting. He became the first batsman to score 4 T20 centuries in one calendar year. The formalities were done and dusted as the Royal Challengers won by 82 runs (D/L) method.

Virat Kohli was simply delighted with the win and said, “I didn’t think I would get a 100 in 15 overs. I was not willing to look at the scorecard. I thought I would put real pressure on the opposition to get to 200. We are getting our processes right. Playing under pressure is doing wonders for us. Hopefully, we can continue on this. May aim is to get runs for the team. When you get into the zone, you feel like you can hit every ball. Today, it was a little tricky. I felt a bit of gap in my hand. First few balls, I was flinching a bit. Once I got the flow going, I just tried to keep a base and kept going,” said Kohli.

Emphasizing on the need to train harder, Kohli added, “Train as hard as you can to play for 3 and a half hours. We want to go out and express ourselves. I mean from the situation we were in, we had to get four in four. We have got three in three wins. Guys have got into a situation, where they are not looking at the points table and not looking at other teams. They are enjoying it and a lot of credit has to go to the backroom staff, too.”
