Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has picked Rohit Sharma as his favorite batsman as he is in awe of the Mumbaikar’s wristy elegance. Rohit has reached new heights in the past few years since he started to open the innings. He led Mumbai Indians to four IPL titles so far and is now all set to take over India’s white-ball captaincy.
He is also the frontrunner to take the job in Test cricket as well since Virat Kohli stepped down from the Test captaincy after the series against South Africa.
“Rohit Sharma makes batting look very, very easy”- Harbhajan Singh
Speaking to Sports Today, Harbhajan Singh, who also played under Rohit’s captaincy in Mumbai Indians, picked him as his favorite batsman across all three formats.
“Favourite batsman: Rohit Sharma. Whether T20, one-day cricket, Test cricket, when Rohit is batting, he is unbelievable. He has got so much of time, he makes batting look very, very easy,” Harbhajan Singh said.
Harbhajan added that the likes of Kohli and Rahul are all good but there is no better sight to watch when Rohit Sharma bats in full flow. Rohit has become a pillar of India’s batting in all 3 formats. India missed him big time in the South Africa tour where India lost both Test and ODI series. He is the only batter to score three double centuries in ODI cricket. In the 2019 World Cup, he became the first-ever batter to score 5 hundreds in a single edition of the World Cup.
“I think Rohit is probably the best batsman in world cricket, with all due respect to others like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. They are equally good as well but when Rohit plays, he is a different level altogether. So Rohit is my favourite batsman,” he added.
Speaking about the bowlers, Harbhajan picked another Mumbai Indian teammate Jasprit Bumrah. He said that the 28-year old fast bowler is a class apart irrespective of the format.
“Coming to bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah I think is a class apart. Whether we talk about T20s, one-dayers or Test cricket, Bumrah is a top-class bowler,” said Harbhajan.
