The West Bengal government on Monday gave a nod to allow 75% spectator attendance for the three-match T20I series between India and West Indies starting on February 16.
“All indoor and outdoor sports activities will be allowed with 75 per cent of the capacity of the venue,” The state government issued a notification.

Eden Gardens will host 3-match T20I series between India and West Indies
India and West Indies firstly will play a 3-match ODI series in Ahmedabad starting from February 6 to 11 then they will move to Kolkata to play the T20I series. The T20I matches will be played on February 16, 18, and 20 at Eden Gardens.
“We are thankful to the honourable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, chief secretary and Government of West Bengal for announcing the resumption of sporting activities as well as for allowing 75 per cent of the capacity of spectators back to the stadium,” CAB president Avishek Dalmiya said in a statement.
“We feel that it will give a fresh lease of life to the sportspersons of the state,” he added.
Notable that Eden Gardens hosted a T20I between India and New Zealand last year in November in which 70% of the attendance was allowed.
“This time too, CAB is confident that it will be able to successfully host the three T20Is against the West Indies in a similar manner,” Dalmiya added.

The series between India and West Indies was originally scheduled to take place in 6 different venues but the covid situation got worsened, the BCCI restricted it to two venues to maintain the bio-bubble. According to the original schedule, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Kolkata were set to host the ODI matches while Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram were supposed to host the T20Is.
It’s likely that BCCI would do the same for the Sri Lanka series as well who are set to travel to India for a series of 2 Tests and 3 T20Is in February-March.
Meanwhile, CAB (The Cricket Association of Bengal) is all set to resume all the local tournaments with strict Covid protocols. The CAB has started the vaccination process for the players in the age bracket of 15 and 18.
