Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that there will be a bidding war for wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan. He also thinks that Royal Challengers Banglore would definitely target him as they need a captain, opener and wicketkeeper and Ishan fits in all 3 roles perfectly.

Ishan Kishan was previously associated with Mumbai Indians but they didn’t retain him. Their 4 retentions are Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kieron Pollard.

The mega auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. On his Youtube channel, Harbhajan Singh weighed his thoughts on the event. Harbhajan thinks that it’s tough to predict the auction dynamics but RCB would try their best to get the swashbuckling opener.

“Ishan Kishan is someone I am a fan of. On his own capability, on any given day, he can smash 70-80 runs off 30 balls and win the match for his team. He will become a very big player in the time to come.

“If a player like him goes to any team, he should be given the responsibility of leadership. The way he gets older, with responsibilities he will become even bigger. He already captains Jharkhand. RCB would definitely target Ishan Kishan in the auction. It will be tough because many teams would go after him at the auction,” Harbhajan Singh said.

In his IPL career, Ishan Kishan played 61 matches and scored 1452 runs with an average of 28.47 and a strike rate of 136.34 which included 9 fifties. In the 2020 season, he was at his peak when he hit the most sixes in the tournament (30) and also scored 516 runs with a strike rate of 145.76.

India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik also showered praises over Ishan Kishan as he also believes that the 23-year old will attract a lot of franchises.

“He is got tremendous skills… He can attack from ball one. That’s a skill every player doesn’t possess. In the new age, players try to attack a lot from ball one. Teams that have succeeded in doing that consistently have done very well in multi-nation tournaments.

So, Ishan definitely has a good chance to come into the scheme of things,” Karthik pointed out.” Dinesh Karthik said.
