Booker T Reflects On The Royal Rumble Botch Of Kofi Kingston

In some of the recent Royal Rumble matches, WWE star Naomi did the same thing during the women’s Royal Rumble match. It was clearly inspired from Kingston. It is always exciting to see Kingston doing such excellent stunts during the Royal Rumble match and a lot of fans wait for it every year.

But the story was a little different this year. Kingston entered the Royal Rumble match as the entry no. 24. He went inside the ring and got straight into the hands of Kevin Owens who threw him off of the ring. And it was the time when he tried to show his yearly skill to survive in the Royal Rumble match.

He jumped straight at the barricade and he was supposed to stuck on to the barricade with no feet touching the floor. But unfortunately both feet touched the floor. It was a very risky stunt and unfortunately he could not generate it. This happened for the first time in his career during the Royal Rumble match.

After this botch, he met a lot of Criticism from the fans. But a lot of fans and critics supported him as well. It was a risky and a very difficult stunt, so it happens. We are pretty much sure that Kingston will be back with even a more difficult stunt at next year’s Royal Rumble.

Booker T who is former five times WCW World Heavyweight champion recently spoke on Hall of Fame podcast his where he talked about the botch that Kofi Kingston made during the Royal Rumble match this year. He said;

“The Kofi Kingston moment, let me tell you right now, that looked like it hurt like hell. I ain’t lying, man. That looked like he crushed his sternum. Even though I know that barrier there has some padding, under that padding is something hard, okay? It’s just not a big foam pad. When he hit it, it was like putting on the brakes.

“I said, ‘ow, that looked like that hurt.’ It looked like, just from his reaction, that it hurt. Coming off the top rope, I mean, that was a crazy bump. But those are the moments right there. Just think about all the ones he was successful on, and then the ones that he missed. No one remembers the ones he was successful on, they’re going to remember this one. Because they didn’t get that moment, that euphoria.

“I’ll tell you, time waits for no man. That’s true, father time is a monster. Look, if Kofi tried that again right after, he probably could have pulled it off. It’s just one of those things, man. It’s a hit-or-miss type of deal, and that night, it just wasn’t meant for Kofi to pull off.

“I’m not going to say it was his age or anything like that. I’m not going to say Kofi has lost a step or anything like that because Kofi is still doing it at a very high level. But, that’s why they call it high-risk — anything can happen.”
