Australia opener David Warner is thrilled to return to Delhi Capitals for the upcoming IPL season. The JSW and GMR co-owned franchise bought him for INR 6.25 Crore. Notable that David Warner made his IPL debut for them (then Delhi Daredevils) in 2009 and represented them till 2013 before moving out to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

On the first day of the auction, Delhi Capitals also bought Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for 6.5 Crores. Marsh was ‘Player of the Match’ in the last T20 World Cup final as his knock of 77*(50) led Australia to its maiden title. Mitchell Marsh represented three IPL franchises as he made his IPL debut for Deccan Charges in 2010. He also played for Pune Warriors and Surisers Hyderabad.

“Absolutely excited to buy David Warner. I cannot believe that we got such a legend at Rs 6.25 crore. With Warner and Prithvi Shaw opening the batting, it will be an explosive start to every single Delhi Capitals innings. It was really strange because we thought the price will go up.

“There was a lot of tactical stuff going on by the other teams. David Warner, the guy who won Australia the T20 World Cup is back in Delhi. We welcome Davey, and all his Insta stories and his shenanigans to the Capitals. We cannot wait to have him at the Capitals,” Delhi Capitals’ co-owner Parth Jindal said.

David Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad to its maiden IPL title in 2016. However, in the last season, things didn’t go well between him and the franchise as he was sacked from the captaincy in the mid-season and also was dropped from playing. Now he is quite excited to join his old franchise.

“I am coming back to where it all started. I am really excited. Can’t wait to see you all very soon over in India. Looking forward to it,” David Warner said.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh is also quite elated to be part of the Delhi Capitals.

Good day, guys. I am absolutely stoked to be a part of the Delhi Capitals team. What an amazing franchise so to be a part of. Looking forward to get over to India in a few months time and represent our fan base. See you guys there, soon!” Mitchell Marsh expresses.
