The legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has downplayed the comparison between him and Virat Kohli as he said that he would love to be in the same team as Virat Kohli.

Notable that Sachin holds all the major batting records in Test matches and ODI cricket. He scored 15921 Test runs with 51 Test hundreds while in ODIs he scored 18426 runs with 49 ODI hundreds. Kohli (43), who is closer to Sachin’s ODI hundreds record but the 33-year old hasn’t scored an ODI hundred for more than 2 years now.

The two have often been compared and asked if Virat can surpass Sachin’s records. Virat himself dismissed such a comparison many times as he said that Sachin is among the greatest of all time. Sachin also diverted such comparison.

In a Youtube show by American journalist Graham Bensinger, Sachin was asked to compare the two in a rapid-fire round, he replied, “How about having both of us in one team?

When he was asked to choose between two greats of football-Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo, he said that Messi is ‘more of his type.’ He also revealed that he prefers golf over racquetball. When asked what he would prefer, a hole-in-one in golf or a double century in cricket, Tendulkar said: “Wouldn’t be a bad idea to get a double hundred and then score a hole in one.”

Earlier Kohli also downplayed his comparison with Sachin similarly as he said it’s unfair to compare the two as it’s a different era.

You can only compare those who are worthy of the comparison. You are comparing me to someone because of whom I started playing cricket in the first place. I stand no chance in terms of skill level.

“He’s the most complete batsman ever. Then how can you even compare? I’ve always said it’s not fair no him. Because of what he’s given us, he doesn’t deserve to be compared to us. This generation, no chance,” Virat Kohli spoke to Gaurav Kapur in Breakfast With Champions.
