Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt lauded Pakistan’s new sensation Azam Khan who is making headlines for his exploits in the Pakistan Super League 2022. Butt also drew comparisons between him and India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
Azam Khan scored 296 runs in 11 innings in the PSL 2022 with a strike rate of 141.62 which included 2 fifties. Against Peshawar Zalmi, he played a knock of 45-ball 85 which caught everyone’s attention.

Azam Khan made his T20I debut last year
Speaking on his youtube channel, Salman Butt drew his comparison with Rishabh Pant as he opined that Pant has a bigger range of shots and as he can score all around the wicket but Azam Khan can hit more cleanly with his strength and power. He urged Azam to work on his fitness and muscle power.
“Both are big hitters. Pant has a big range but Azam Khan can hit longer. Azam has amazing strength and power. He just needs to put some muscle on, get into shape. But again, he hits the ball hard and can send the ball to long-distance,” said Butt on his official YouTube channel.

Though he further added that there is no comparison between the achievements of the two youngsters as Pant is already an established player with 4 Test hundreds to his name which included hundreds in Australia, England, and South Africa.
“Both are very talented. Rishabh Pant has hit hundreds in Test matches as well, so he’s definitely more experienced and has played more. Azam is yet to make a mark at the international level,” Salman Butt added.
Azam Khan made his T20I debut against England last year and so far represented Pakistan in 3 matches in the shortest format.
Despite Azam Khan’s heroics on Friday, his Islamabad United fell short by 6 runs against Lahore Qalandars and missed the chance to qualify for the final. The final will be played between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars on Sunday.
