The women’s division of Friday Night Smackdown has been really weak since last year after all the releases WWE made. It was so fragile that for quite a long time there was no worthy opponent for Charlotte Flair who could challenge her for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship title.
But after Ronda Rousey won the Women’s Royal Rumble match, she decided to challenge Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 38. With the presence of Ronda, The Smackdown Women’s division looks quite strong once again. Rest of the roster does not look for strong anyway. Even though the Friday Night Show Naomi pretty well unlike RAW.
SmackDown Women’s Division Picture For WrestleMania 38
It looks like the brand split will end after WrestleMania. During the recent contract signing between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman talked about title unification. When the two world championships will be unified, it is quite obvious there will be no more brand split after WrestleMania.
There is no confirmation on what would happen to the two women’s titles. Maybe one of the two titles becomes a title for the mid cards which will be an amazing way to utilise all that women in WWE right now. But these are all speculations, let us talk about the current picture of the women’s division of the blue brand of WWE.
The main title picture has been set already. In this previous week, Sasha Banks and Naomi has already informed that they would be challenging for the Women’s Tag Team championships. The venue might not be set but it would be great for Wrestlemania 38. The women’s Tag Team titles had been the worst titles in since last year. Banks and Naomi holding the titles may regain the lost glory once again.
About the rest of the roster there is nothing much to talk about. When Shotzi made her main roster debut It looked like she would be booked in a better way in WWE. But for some reason WWE decided to turn her into a jobber. Along with Tegan Nox, she could be an excellent fit for the Women’s Tag Team division. But WWE had other plans to kill the best potentials.
The only feud that was quite exciting on the blue brand was between Naomi and Sonya Deville. It had been booked for quite a long time but once again WWE did not give it enough value as they have decided to stop it finally. It could have been an excellent fit for WrestleMania since this has been one of the best feuds of the recent time.
It does not look like there are enough opportunities left for the rest of the SmackDown female stars. Aliyah, Natalya and Xia Li might remain completely unbooked for WrestleMania 38. Sonya Deville might get a role for the Women’s title picture. Overall the picture of the blue brand does not look so pretty for WrestleMania 38.
