Andre Russel back for KKR to strengthen the side ahead of eliminator

After an inconsistent season in the Indian Premier League, the Kolkata Knight Riders managed to sneak through to the play-offs on the last day of the group-stage.

They played their last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and completed a double over them to make sure that they do not finish lower than 4th in the points table.

And they will once again play the boys from Hyderabad this time at Delhi in the first eliminator of the competition.

The Knight Riders were under some pressure in that final game and were short of quality at times but managed to get over the line. However, for the eliminator, it is understood that star all-rounder Andre Russel will be back fit and available.

The Caribbean hard-hitting all-rounder has been excellent for KKR this season with the bat, the ball and also in the field.

He has scored 188 runs at a striker rate of 164.91 and has also picked up 15 wickets in 12 games bowling at an economy of 7.91.

He has performed consistently for the Knight Riders but picked up an injury a week ago that has kept him out of the games against the Lions and the Sunrisers in the fag-end of the group stage.

In his absence, the Knight Riders found their middle order a bit un-balanced but managed to pick up a crucial win in the last game.

But now, for the all important eliminator, the World T20 winner is back in the squad and will be hoping to help take his team to the next eliminator.

However, recovering from a leg-injury, Russel might also be rusty having landed in Delhi just a day before the important game.

It will be interesting to see if the Knight Riders can cast their magic and win the third game on the trot against the Sunrisers in the current IPL season.
