Professional wrestling legend and former two times WWE world champion The Miz who is also a former eight times WWE Intercontinental Champion and a former two times WWE United States champion recently talked about the current WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and discussed how he got so over.
Roman Reigns has been the project to become the face of WWE from the very first day he joined the promotion. He is indeed the actual face of the promotion right now but the journey of him to become the face of the promotion was never so easy.
The Miz On How Roman Reigns Got Over
In typical WWE fashion, the promotion tried to force him as the new face of the promotion to the fans. Naturally fans did not accept to take him as the new face of the promotion. What happened was, in every match or segment he got constantly booed by the fans.
But he kept on trying. In spite of being loathed by the fans, WWE did not give up on him. And finally the promotion established him as they wanted him to. A lot of fans believe that he got the fame that WWE wanted him to get was after he came back from leukaemia.
In the Payback 2020 pay per view event which took place in August, Reigns defeated the Fiend Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match to become the WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion. It was his fifth World championship in WWE. Since winning the title he has been undefeated and retaining the title.
He had been challenged by a lot of big names since but he defeated everyone that came into his way. Currently he is involved in a feud with Brock Lesnar. At WrestleMania 38, he is going to face the Beast Incarnate for the third time in Wrestlemania. This time it will be different, this time Roman Reigns will wrestle Brock Lesnar as the Tribal Chief for the first time.
The Miz who is also a former eight times WWE Intercontinental Champion and a former two times WWE United States champion recently spoke to The Ringer Wrestling where he talked about the current WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and discussed how he got so over. He said;
“Do you know how many people have to come to WWE from other, you know, ventures? Or other companies and did not become who everybody thought they would become? But I knew like I even knew Roman too.
“I remember I had these promos where I would literally talk the entire promo for 15 minutes. And I had to memorize like four pages of just questions and I would do the answer and questions and I would do the answer. They would let people talk and I would do this all the time. Anyone that they were thinking, ‘oh they might not be able to talk’.
“They could talk, like, Roman could talk. And obviously, we’re witnessing that, right? No one is hotter than Roman. In the beginning, it was like talk, talk, talk and he would punch me and everyone would go nuts, it would be incredible and it was always fun.”
