AJ Styles Reveals How He Convinced Vince McMahon To Get A Main Event Push
When he first started his WWE career it looked like that he is going to be pushed as a mid card in the promotion. He was mostly focusing on the mid card feuds with various mid card wrestlers. But on the same year, his main event push started from the Money in the Bank pay per view event when he faced John Cena.
He defeated John Cena in two back to back events, the very next pay per view event was SummerSlam. In this event Styles defeated Cena clean. This was the mark of the beginning of his main event push in WWE. At the Backlash pay per view event of the same year, he defeated Dean Ambrose to win his first WWE Championship in WWE.

He constantly remained a main event star in WWE as long as he was in SmackDown. But as soon as he was drafted to Monday Night RAW his main event push was gone for good. Of course he was given a number of World title shots but he has never been considered as a potential main event in RAW.
Recently he turned babyface is having a better time. Even though it does not seem like he is going to get a main event push once again very soon. But he can definitely win some mid card championships right now. Hopefully he will be treated as a main event star once again in WWE very soon.
AJ Styles who is also a former two times TNA World Heavyweight Champion recently spoke to BT Sports where he talked about receiving main event push in WWE and revealed how he convinced Vince McMahon that he is a star. He said;

“I think there was a Miz TV, and there was a point where I needed to beat him up. It had to look the way it should. Several people came up to me and said, ‘Put it on him.’ I’m like, ‘Wait. What? Did they mean they wanted me to hurt this guy?’ It was at least three guys that told me I needed to get after him.
“I’m like, ‘They really want me to hurt him?’ What they were trying to say is, ‘This has to look really good. You have to convince Vince that you belong here and have that pit bull that he wanted to see.’ I was able to pull that off without hurting The Miz and looked like a guy that can tear you apart.”
