Out-of-form Virat Kohli is unlikely to be a part of the upcoming home T20I series against South Africa. Few days after the ongoing season of the IPL ends, Team India will host the Proteas for a five-match series. The series will get underway on June 9 in Delhi and will conclude with the fifth and final match on June 19 in Bengaluru. According to media reports, the former India skipper will be given a much-deserved rest by the selectors for the series.
Kohli has been struggling with his form for quite some time now and has struggled to get going in the IPL. In 12 games so far, he has managed to score only 216 runs at an average of less than 20. His strike-rate of just over 111 makes his struggle pretty much clear. In those 12 games, the batting superstar has managed to hit only 4 sixes and has also registered as many as 3 ducks. And to ensure that Kohli gets some rest and consequently get over his lean patch, the national selection committee, headed by Chetan Sharma, would allow him to take some time off from the game. In the last couple of years or so, Kohli has spent a considerable time in bio-bubble.

“Virat Kohli in all probability will be rested for the South Africa series. He has been playing a lot of cricket and has been in the bubble for a long time,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by PTI. “It has been a policy decision regarding Kohli and other senior players that they will be given periodic breaks from time to time.”
Busy schedule ahead for Virat Kohli and Team India:
