AEW came into existence in the very first day of 2019. The promotion had been quite promising from the very first day of its existence. It had been the biggest Rivals of The Mighty WWE ever since. Even though a lot of the professional wrestling fans were not ready to accept this new promotion to be the next big thing in the world of professional wrestling.

Eric Bischoff Discusses How AEW Can Grow Truly

But after the promotion managed to sign some of the biggest names in the world of professional wrestling today including the likes of CM Punk and Bryan Danielson, it became quite clear that their not here to mess around only. Even WWE try to take them quite seriously. Most of the wrestlers that had been released by WWE or left WWE last year, almost all of them were signed by AEW.

The new promotion might have shown a lot of promises, they are still failing to compete with WWE in ratings and viewership. They are producing better shows and better matches than WWE, still they are behind WWE in almost every department. But it is only the beginning of this rivalry, hopefully the new promotion will be able to give some strong threats to the mighty WWE.

Eric Bischoff who is the former Boss of WCW recently spoke to Strictly Business on AdFreeShows where he talked about the current growth of the AEW, which is the biggest rival of WWE right now. Bischoff discussed how they could grow their business in a better way. He said;

“Nobody else out there that is manufacturing products is looking at the AEW brand right now or anybody in it and going, ‘wow, we can build our future on that. They’re looking at it and going ‘wow, this is interesting, let’s see where this tracks for the next year-three years.

“And if there’s consistency and they see that the belt program that AEW has for example at Walmart, and is actually tracking and growing and creating revenue, that will give future licenses the interest in coming out and trying to build some of their product on AEW licensed properties.

“But that doesn’t happen overnight, it didn’t happen overnight in WCW. Providing AEW continues to grow, which arguably they’re not, they’re kind of flatlining at a million viewers a week, but if they can grow that industry in such a way that it gives confidence to manufacturers and distributors to go ahead and invest money in that licensing in hopes to increase sales off their products, that’s when you’ll start to see real growth in AEW. It’s not a knock against them, you can’t do that overnight. No one is going to take that risk until you’ve established yourself in the marketplace.”
