WWE booked a total of seven action packed matches for this year’s Hell in a Cell pay per view event. But there was only one Hell in a Cell match on the card, and there was no World Championship match either. How was the event overall? Let us go through all the matches that took place in the event.
Match 1 – WWE RAW Women’s Championship – Bianca Belair defeated Asuka and Becky Lynch to retain

WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 Results & Ratings
This was an amazing way to start the night. The whole match was booked for 19 minutes and it was an excellent match. However it was thoroughly predictable. It is quite clear that Bianca Belair would not be dropping her title at this stage. It was a very competitive match. All three women did really good.
There were near falls after near falls. In spite of being totally predictable, WWE made it look like quite unpredictable during the match with near falls. At the end of the match, Becky hit a Man Handle Slam on Asuka, as she was about pin her, Bianca threw Becky out of the ring and pinned Asuka to retain the Championship.
Match 2 – Bobby Lashley defeated MVP and Omos in a 2 on 1 Handicap match

It was one of the weakest matches of the night and this one was quite predictable as well. From top to bottom the match was totally predictable. The reason behind making this match 2 on 1, the length of the match, how it would go on, everything was thoroughly predictable.
The match was booked for 8 minutes. The first half of the match was dominated single handedly by Omos. Then MVP came in to the ring so that Lashley could beat him. He was involved in this match just so Lashley could score the victory on him. Cedric Alexander got involved into the match, it distracted Omos and Lashley speared him. After that, Lashley made MVP submit with the Hurt Lock.
Match 3 – Kevin Owens defeated Ezekiel

This match was booked for 9 minutes and it was a good match. Kevin Owens seriously needed this victory. However the most part of the match was dominated by Ezekiel. At the end of the match, Owens pinned Ezekiel with a Stunner and it was a clean win. Hopefully, this is not the end of this feud.
Match 4 – The Judgment Day defeated Finn Balor, AJ Styles and Liv Morgan

This match was booked for around 15 minutes and it was a good match. There was nothing highly special about it, it was just good. Everyone was expecting to get the fourth member of the Judgment Day to reveal during this match. But no such thing happened, which was a big disappointment.
The biggest focus of the match was who could be the next member of the Stable. But there was disappointment as WWE decided to wait for a little longer to reveal the 4th member. Edge pinned Finn Balor with a Spear at the end to earn the victory for his side.
Match 5 – Madcap Moss defeated Happy Corbin in a No Holds Barred Match

This match was booked for 12 minutes and this was the only match that got into the card from Friday Night SmackDown. That is right, all other matches had been book from Monday Night RAW. Since it was a no holds barred match, there was some expectations from it that it could be a good match.
It was indeed a good match but it is not up to the expectations. There were not enough weapons used in this match. The only weapon that was used through the match was a steel chair. At the end of the match, Moss wrapped the Steel Chair around the neck of Corbin and hit it with the Steel Step to pin him.
Match 6 – WWE United States Championship – Theory defeated Mustafa Ali to retain

This match was booked for 11 minutes and it was a good match. This match was quite predictable as well. It was quite obvious that Theory would not drop his title at this stage of his career. But it was an entertaining match and it was well booked.
Mustafa Ali dominated the most part of the match. Theory kept on attacking Ali’a knee throughout the match. At the end, Ali was about to hit a 450 Splash which he missed and Theory capitalised with an ATL and pinned him.
Match 7 – Hell in a Cell Match – Cody Rhodes defeated Seth Rollins

This was indeed the best match of the night. This was also the longest match of the night as it was booked for around 24 minutes. From top to bottom it was a very entertaining match. Kudos to both of the athletes for putting up such an amazing match.
But there was a thing about this match, this is also a predictable match. There was no way Cody would lose this match. But after three defeats in a row, it would be interesting to see what would be next for Seth Rollins. Cody pinned Seth after two Cross Rhodes and a Hammer Shot. Cody Rhodes celebrated as this year’s Hell in a Cell went of air.
Overall it was a good event but all of the outcomes were totally predictable. This is such a pity that WWE is failing to book unpredictable matches that they were famous for. Hell in a Cell is a gimmick pay per view where WWE book at least two Hell in a Cell matches.
But this year there was only one. So the gimmick behind the event was completely unnecessary. We give it 2 stars out of 5. One star would be deducted for not using the theme properly, one would get deducted for booking predictable matches, and one star would be deducted for not booking the world championship in two pay per views in a row.
