Mohammed Shami has claimed he could make Mohsin Khan India’s best allrounder in just four months. Shami’s claim has been revealed by none other than Mohsin’s coach Badruddin Siddiqui. Siddiqui’s comments have come after Mohsin’s stunning performance in the recently-concluded IPL 2022.

The left-arm pacer plied his trade for Lucknow Super Giants this year and was one of the most impressive performers of IPL 2022. The tournament did not start on a good note for him. In his first outing, he conceded 18 runs in 2 overs without taking a wicket against Gujarat Titans.

Following that game, he did get a chance in the eleven for nearly a month as he missed six games. But once he was recalled by the team management, there was no looking back as he became a pivotal member of the team. Mohsin went on to impress one and all with his stunning display with the ball.

In the eight games that he played after being recalled, he picked up an impressive 14 wickets while giving away only 5.77 runs per over. His overall economy-rate in the tournament was a stunning 5.97. Among the bowlers who had bowled a minimum of 30 overs in IPL 2022, only Sunil Narine (5.57) had a better economy-rate than Mohsin.

‘Mohsin Khan is a very good batsman’:

While Mohsin Khan’s talent with the ball is now known to everyone, the same cannot be said about his batting talent. His coach, however, has claimed that he is a ‘very good batsman’ and has the potential to be one of India’s best allrounders. Revealing a conversation with Shami, Siddiqui said that the India fast-bowler has claimed that he would transform Mohsin into the country’s best allrounder in just few months. Not only that, Siddiqui also stated that even Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul rates Mohsin highly as a batsman.

“When the auction was going on, I was sitting with Shami in his farmhouse. He was picked, and so was Mohsin. Shami told me, ‘If you just give me four months with him (Mohsin), I’ll make him India’s best all-rounder’. He is a very good batsman. And even KL Rahul said earlier that he has a good understanding of the game,” said Siddiqui on Sports Yaari.

“There can be many bowlers but you need to have a good understanding. You need to know what ball to use against which batsman. Today, Shami is a big bowler. But he is always ready to help the up and coming youngsters,” added Siddiqui.

Mohsin has already caught the selectors’ eyes with his performance in IPL 2022. There were calls from several quarters for his inclusion in Team India’s squad for the ongoing T20I series against South Africa. And although he did not get his maiden call-up from Team India, he could get one in near future if he keeps performing like the way he did in IPL 2022.
