This week’s SmackDown started as Vince McMahon came out to the arena. We thought he would address his allegations but he just thanked the fans for their support and welcomed everyone to Friday Night Smackdown.
Riddle came out to the arena. He talked about his match with Roman Reigns that is scheduled for later tonight for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. He showed the complete rivalry between him and Roman Reigns on the big screen which made the match more interesting to wait for.

After that Riddle talked about his on screen best friend Randy Orton and praised him. He said that he is waiting badly for his return and he also say that he would like to dedicate his match to Orton. He talked more about Randy Orton and less about his Universal championship match. It looks like Orton will turn on him upon his return.
Match 1 – Mascap Moss defeated Happy Corbin
It was a feud ending match and it was a good way to start the night. The match was booked for around 7 minutes and it was a fun match. Nobody in particular dominated the match but at the end, Moss picked up a dominant victory as he hit the Punchline finisher two times to pin Corbin. Kudos to Corbin for giving Moss a great push.
After the match, Corbin lashed out on Pat McAfee for criticizing him throughout the match and making jokes on him. McAfee stood up and once again made fun of him and the fans in the arena joined him. This might be the start of a new feud between Corbin and McAfee.
Match 2 – The New Day defeated Jinder Mahal and Shanky
They focused more on the dancing of Shanky in this match. This week there was no confrontation between Shanky and Samantha Irvin which fans were expecting to see. Kofi Kingston pinned Jinder Mahal with the Trouble in Paradise Finishing Maneuver.
Drew McIntyre and Sheamus came out to the arena one by one. Adam Pearce was in the ring who talked about their Money in the Bank qualification match last week which did not come to any solution. Pearce announced that both McIntyre and Sheamus will be in the Money in the Bank ladder match. After the announcement, Drew nailed Sheamus with the Claymore.

Match 3 – Raquel Rodriguez defeated Shayna Baszler
This was the Money in the Bank qualifying match and it was booked for nearly 4 minutes. Shayna dominated the most part of the match as he kept on attacking Raquel’s knee but at the end Raquel capitalised with a pin fall victory.
Up next Max Dupri was scheduled to reveal his first client for the Maximum Male Models stable but backstage he met Adam Pearce and said that he did not like the decoration of the set so he would not bring his first client out. Once again WWE disappointed the fans by not revealing the first client of Dupri’s stable. It was a terrible decision.
Match 4 – WWE Undisputed Universal Heavyweight Championship – Roman Reigns defeated Riddle to retain
What an amazing main event it was! Both performers were really on top of their game, Riddle’s performance was really praiseworthy. The whole match was booked for over 10 minutes and it was a pay per view standard match. There were some near falls which made the match even more special. At the end, Roman pinned Riddle with a Spear.

After the match, Roman Reigns got a short promo and said that there was no one left on the roster who could challenge him. As the Bloodline was about to leave the ring, Brock Lesnar came out to the arena. It was really shocking to see Brock coming back at this stage. He entered the ring and beat down the whole Bloodline. Brock Lesnar stood tall inside the ring as this week’s SmackDown went of air.
It must have been one of the best episodes of Smackdown in the recent years of WWE. Of course there are some downfalls but we can accept everything for whatever they did on the last segment. Not enough screen time for the WWE SmackDown Women’s championship and the intercontinental championship was definitely downfalls.
But the main event match between Roman Reigns and Riddle was excellent. The return of Brock Lesnar was amazing and shocking as well. There is only one question, if broke does not win this time either, what would be the point of his return? But we would like to see the positive sides, so we would give this week’s Smackdown 3 out of 5.
