Matt Hardy Thinks WWE Releasing Bray Wyatt Was Shocking

But the unthinkable actually happened after WrestleMania 37 where he faced and lost to Randy Orton. During the time WWE was going through a releasing spree where they released a lot of wrestlers from their promotion. Shockingly Wyatt was one of them. While being released he was involved in a storyline with Alexa Bliss.

But why actually he was released from WWE is still not confirmed. There are a number of theories, one of the most reliable sources claimed that he was asking for a lot of money that WWE could not afford in that situation. This was the same reason he never returned to WWE and he did not go to AEW either. There is no clue when he would ever return to action.

Matt Hardy who is a former 11 times Tag Team champion in WWE recently spoke on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast where he looked back at WWE releasing the former three times WWE World Champion Bray Wyatt and said that it is still shocking to him. He said;

“It was shocking. I mean, because he was one of the biggest merch movers they had. That’s usually a pretty important, pretty important part of performance longevity around there. If you’re selling a lot of merch, usually that means you’re making money.

“You know, so it was very shocking, very disappointing. I don’t even know if it was because he’d re-signed a contract it was too much, and they were just like, it’s one of those things, it’s very much a business now more than ever.

“If they have a guy that they think is making too much money, no one is index spendable, and they’ve built the brand around WWE. Vince McMahon doesn’t need anyone’s Superstar at any certain time. They’ve really built it all around WWE and that is what is the draw.”
