The International Cricket Council has announced the list of elite panel umpires for 2016-17. In this list, only one Indian umpire is been included who is S Ravi.
The other umpires who have been included in the list are Aleem Dar from Pakistan who has been officiating from 2000, followed by Bruce Oxenford from Australia officiating from 2006 in T20 and graduated to ODI’s in 2008 and test matches in 2010.
Chris Gaffney from New Zealand made his umpiring debut in February 2010 and did his first ODI in September later that year. He got his first test in August 2014. Ian Gould from England has been included in the list of elite umpires who made his umpiring debut in 2006.
Kumar Dharamsena is also there in the elite umpiring list that began his umpiring career 2009. The other umpires in the list are Marus Erasmus from South Africa, Nigel Long from England, Paul Riefel from Australia, Richard Illingworth, and Richard Kettlebrough from England, Rod Tucker from Australia, S Ravi is only Indian umpire to be included in the elite umpire list.
All these umpires have officiated in lots of international matches which have contributed in making ICC elite umpires list. The Indian umpires need to improve their standard of umpiring. In IPL 9 , the Indian umpires got a chance to officiate. In the knockout matches, experienced umpires officiated and did an excellent job. A total of 12 umpires have been retained for the 2016-17 season.
Aleem Dar is the most experienced umpire of all these. Umpiring is a tough job and these umpires have done an excellent job of making the game fair to all. Their decision making on the field has been spot on. Here we a list of ICC elite umpire list.
