Arsenal midfielder has multiple offers on the table

Lucas Torreira has failed to impress Mikel Arteta despite enjoying an impressive first season at the club. The midfielder has since endured on one-year loan spells at Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina.

Torreira’s last season loan spell at Fiorentina turned out to be a fruitful one which prompted them to enter negotiations with Arsenal over triggering the €15 million buy-option in the midfielder’s deal.

However, Fiorentina refused to pay the €15 million which collapsed the deal. Torreira has left the Arsenal squad citing ‘personal issues’, but reportedly travelled to Italy to find his next club.

Further on, the midfielder has now confirmed that he held talks with Jose Mourinho over a move to AS Roma.

“Roma? Yes, there is a possibility. I spoke to Mourinho a while ago. I admire him as a coach. It’s an opportunity that tempts me a lot, but it’s not easy,” said the midfielder.

On the other hand, Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur has revealed that a move back to Spain on permanent basis is on the cards for his client. However, Valencia is the preferred destination this time for Torreira.

Bentancur has even stated that personal terms have been agreed between Torreira and Valencia. The agent said, “We have reached an agreement with Valencia, [Gennaro] Gattuso wants him.

“We are going to discuss with Arsenal – Arteta wants to see him in the pre-season. He [Torreira] had great numbers with AFC but we’ve pre-agreement with Valencia.”

Arsenal need to sell their fringe players after welcoming five signings so far. Mikel Arteta has also spoken about the same insisting that the club needs to see-off the players who do not fit in his plans.
