Robert Lewandowski was met with a not-so-good goodbye from Bayern Munich fans after he was leaving the club facilities post his farewell lunch with former teammates. The striker returned to Munich for the first time after he competed his €50 million move to FC Barcelona.
The former striker had arranged a small farewell part for his teammates, and also had a private conversation with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. The fans greeted Lewandowski, who scored 344 goals in his eight years with the club with chants of Real Madrid, the fiercest rivals of his new club Barcelona. Moreover, the fans also displayed their disgust over Lewandowski accusing Bayern of making up ‘bullsh*t stories’ of his departure.

Bayern Fans shout ‘Hala Madrid’ At Robert Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski left Bayern on a bad note after a long fought battle between the both over his exit. While the striker wanted to pursue a new challenge, Bayern insisted he fulfil his contract which ran until the summer of 2023. Further on, to complicate things the Bundesliga side demanded a fee of €50 million, €10 million more than what was agreed between the player’s agent and Barcelona.
Back in June, Lewandowski has publicly criticised Bayern on poorly handling his situation and not letting him leave. While on international duty with Poland, the striker told Onet Sport, “I am leaving [Bayern Munich] because I want more emotions in my life. They didn’t want to listen to me until the end. Something died inside me – and it’s impossible to get over that. Even if you want to be professional, you can’t make up for it.”

The player was in Bayern premises for the first time after leaving the club and met his former players as well as the club’s staff. However, as he was leaving, fans gathered outside the club shouted ‘Hala Madrid’ at the Barcelona player, as can be seen in a video tweeted by Kerry Hau, chief reporter of Bayern for SPORT1.

Clearly, the Bayern fans have not liked the way Lewandowski has left their club. Moreover, in his recent interview to ESPN the Pole accused Bayern of creating fake stories about him leaving the club due to insecurity over a potential deal for Erling Haaland. Robert Lewandowski claimed,“[My exit] had nothing to do with Erling [Haaland]. The club tried to find an argument why they can sell me to another club because before it was difficult to explain maybe to the fans. And I had to accept that even though it was a lot of bullsh*t, a lot of sh*t said about me. Not true, but in the end I knew that the fans, even in this period, still support me a lot.”
Robert Lewandowski also had a personal chat with Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, allegedly over the comments he made. Nonetheless, the new Barca player has already face Real Madrid in the preseason but couldn’t get on the score sheet at they won 1-0 thanks to Raphinha’s banger. He will now clash against the Los Blancos in La Liga on October 16 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
