This week’s SmackDown started as a 4 minute long highlight of SummerSlam was shown. Pat McAfee on the commentary table explained how he defeated Happy Corbin. Corbin who who was standing on the backstage was being made fun of some wrestlers. A match between him and Ricochet got booked.
Match 1 – Ricochet defeated Happy Corbin

This match was booked for eight and a half minutes and it was a very good match. It has been really entertaining thoroughly. Nobody in particular dominated the match. At the end of the match, Pat McAfee distracted Corbin as Ricochet capitalized with a Shooting Star Press and pinned him.
Match 2 – Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Ludwig Kaiser
There was a condition in this match that if Nakamura could win this match he would be given an opportunity for the WWE Intercontinental championship. This match was booked for six and a half minutes that it was a good match. Nakamura pinned Kaiser with the Kinshasa.
WWE SmackDown Women’s champion Liv Morgan came out to the arena. She addressed Ronda Rousey and talked about their match which took place at SummerSlam. Sonya Deville interfered and claimed that she would take her title away.
Match 3 – No. 1 contender’s match for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship – Shayna Baszler defeated Raquel Rodriguez, Natalya, Xia Li, Shotzi, Sonya Deville and Aliyah
It was a fun gauntlet match. Good to see finally WWE is getting rid of the contender’s matches and their bringing back the number one containers matches. Sonya Deville and Aliyah started things off. In two minutes time Sonya defeated Aliyah and it was a clean win. This must have been a victory for Sonya in a very long time.
Raquel Rodriguez joined the frame next.
Raquel Rodriguez had been presented as one woman wrecking crew who eliminated Sonya Deville, Shotzi, Xia Li and Natalya one after another. It was a very good performance from Rodriguez. But at the end she was beaten by Shayna Baszler who is now the number one contender for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Match 4 – The Viking Raiders defeated Jim Mulkey and Tommy Gibson
It was an easy jobber squash for The Viking Raiders. They dominated this jobber team for two minutes and at the end Eric pinned both of them together to earn the victory for his side. After the match Kofi Kingston attacked both of them with a Kendo Stick.
Match 5 – Kofi Kingston defeated Eric
This match was booked for only four minutes and it was mostly dominated by Eric. But at the end of the match, Kofi Kingston pinned Eric with a Roll Up. Kofi Kingston seriously needed this victory.
An excellent announcement was made next that a tournament for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship will start on next week’s Monday Night RAW. Finally the titles are back. As soon as we saw that the NXT Women’s Tag Team championships were brought back, we knew the titles of the main roster will be back soon as well. We hope we will get to see better Women’s Tag Team Championship matches and feuds under the reign of Triple H.
The Bloodline came out to the arena. After Roman Reigns cut a short promo on his upcoming match with Drew McIntyre at Clash of the Castle. Drew interfered him and as he was walking down the isle, the music of Karrion Kros hit. Scarlet was seem standing on the entrance stage.
Karrion Kross attacked Drew McIntyre from behind and beat him down badly. It was really a shocking return. But fans new that it was going to happen sooner or later. Scarlet put an hourglass on the stage and Karrion Kross pointed that Roman Reigns’ time is coming to an end soon. Roman Reigns and Karrion Kross kept looking at each other as this week’s SmackDown went of air.
Overall it was a good show of Smackdown. It did not start in a very good manner and it look like that this is going to be another boring episode of Smackdown. But slowly it picked up pace. The gauntlet match was really fun. It is good to see that WWE is getting rid of contender’s matches as they are bringing back no. 1 contender’s matches.
The announcement of the return of Women’s Tag Team Championship was really amazing. And at the end, the return of Karrion Kross was really well booked too. Triple H is actually making some changes and it is quite clear. Soon WWE will be fun again. We give it 2.5 stars out of 5.
