Arsenal are plotting a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Pedro Neto, according to the Daily Express. Further on, Wolves have reportedly sealed a deal for Valencia’s Goncalo Guedes who could replace Neto at the club. Arsenal see this as an opportunity to grab the talented Neto and are ready to open talks with Bruno Lage’s side.
Mikel Arteta’s men opened their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 win away to Crystal Palace as their new signings Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko delivered stellar debuts. While the Gunners have already conducted heavy business in the summer market so far adding five signings, Mikel Arteta is looking to add more armoury to the team.

Arsenal want more from the market as Arteta had confirmed
Arsenal have so far splashed over £100 million in the transfer market, doing so for a second consecutive summer. Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner have been welcomed till now. While there’s a lot of attacking potent in Jesus, Vieira, Marquinhos and Zinchenko, Arteta wants an absolute squad depth in order to compete fiercely.
Pedro Neto has been plying his trade in the Premier League since his move to Wolves from Lazio back in 2019. He has featured in 93 games for the club till now, scoring 11 goals and assisting 12. However, a recurring knee injury from the 2020/21 season forced Neto to sit out majority of last season.
On the other hand, Wolves have reached an agreement for Guedes with Valencia for a fee of around £27 million. Guedes was left out from Valencia’s friendly against Atalanta pending his move to the Premier League side. Valencia manager Gennaro Gattuso too confirmed the same in his post match presser stating, “The club told me they’ve received a huge proposal for Guedes from a Premier League club.”

Given Guedes’ imminent move to Wolves, Pedro Neto could now seek an exit since both the Portugal internationals operate in the same role. Add to it, Arsenal have been on the hunt of a winger since they missed out on Leeds United’s Raphinha. Nonetheless, manager Mikel Arteta has been adamant on completing more signings before the window shuts.
Arteta, in his post match interview after the Palace win had revealed, “We are going to try. If we can do them great but now it’s work with the players we have, the focus should be with the players we have.” Arsenal will look to accelerate their Pedro Neto pursuit if they plan to bring in before their next game against Leicester City in the Premier League on next weekend.
