DRS

If you see this image you will surely say that bowl is missing the stumps by a comfortable margin and batsman is not out. But what if I tell you that this is an image of a dismissal of a batsman who was out bowled. Surprised, shocked and perplexed? Yes, that’s true that this is the image of how DRS tracked the ball after the dismissal of AB De Villiers who was bowled by Josh Hazelwood a day back.

Decision Review System which is used to clear the doubts and to satisfy the unsatisfied players has shown this image which is the biggest howler in the history of DRS. The technology that is used to cure the problems among the players on-field has suffered a major setback as how it is possible that a ball that hit the stumps can miss the stump in DRS?

DRS which was first used in a test match between India and Sri Lanka has faced criticism many times as still there are some concepts and confusions which are not covered under DRS. The umpires call adds to its woes. DRS was the centre of controversy in World Cup 2011 as the 2.5-metre distance between the impact and stumps was a rule which denied India a wicket in an all-important contest. At another day DRS was questioned as Nasser Hussain statement that using Vaseline on bat do not allow it to spot the nick. These are only two examples when DRS have been was the centre of controversy and now with this type of error, the debate on DRS will again open up.
BCCI have been one of the strong opposition of DRS right from its starts as captain Dhoni says that it is not 100 percent correct and why to use it when we know this.

Well, whatever you assume or say being this a technical fault or a howler but surely due to this, the controversial DRS has again come under scanner and surely we will see teams coming up with the matter as how DRS can track and show and image like this. Surely there might have been times when it might have shown wrong images in LBW decisions too resulting in unfair and wrong decisions. Surely the technology which was made to clear the confusion itself needs to be revamped and changed as these types of mistakes are not at all acceptable in any form and level of cricket as with development in technology the cricket should also adopt the changes in the upcoming period. Rest depends on the ICC officials and the respective team who supports DRS even after this howler.
