The BCCI working committee meeting will be held on June 24 in Dharamsala to discuss some of the most important subjects of the future development program.
One of the important subjects will be discussed in this meeting is the team India’s head coach. The top post of the Indian team is still vacant since Zimbabwe’s Duncan Fletcher’s tenure come to an end after India’s semi-final defeat to Australia in 2015 World Cup.
BCCI has advertised for the post this month and 57 applicants applied for the job. Among the top contenders for the post are former Indian team Team Director Ravi Shastri, former Indian coach Sandeep Patil and legendary spinner Anil Kumble.
BCCI will shortlist a couple of names from the list of 57 applicants.
However, not only the matter of Indian coaching will be discussed at the Working Committee. The WC will also have to ratify the decision taken by the technical committee of the board and discussing the issue of holding Ranji trophy matches in neutral venues.
On the other hand, the conclave of Raji Trophy captain and coaches will also hold here before the Working Committee meeting so the meeting will help the Working Committee to discuss the subject of Ranji Trophy matches at neutral venues.
It is expected that the meeting will also discuss the Lodha Committee recommendation. The Supreme Court of India is set to give his verdict next month.
The Working Committee meeting will be held at Dharamsala where the picturesque cricket stadium nestled in the womb of Himalaya is the pet project of current BCCI President Anurag Thakur.
Thakur in a recent interview said BCCI and its state associations need some time to implement the Lodha committee recommendations as the committee has taken one year to come up with recommendations and so they also need some time to think about it.
Thakur has also willing to expand cricket’s base in the North East of India. He visited Assam and Meghalaya and he is impressed by the development work of Meghalaya.
He also said India’s bilateral series with Pakistan depend on the policy of Indian government.
Thakur is also unhappy with current Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh as the chief minister opposed India and Pakistan match at Dharamshala. Thakur said the CM has allowed participating Pakistani artist at the Himachal Pradesh Bhavan in Chandigarh at the same time he didn’t allow Pakistani players to play the match in the state.
Thakur also thinks the two-tier Test cricket system will revive the cricket and will not affect the schedule of limited over cricket.
