Chris Gayle needs no introduction in International cricket and recently he joined the elite club of West Indian cricketers who have played 100 or more Test matches. He is the 9th West Indian to do so and 8th as a Carribean batsman , with Courtney Walsh being the only bowler in the list.Naturally a strokemaker, Chris Gayle never had the success in Test cricket, relative to what he has achieved in limited overs career. But still , playing 100 Test matches for West Indies is an achievement in itself.
For West Indies , Shivnarine Chanderpaul has played maximum number of Test matches till date and the 1st Test match between West Indies and New Zealand is his 154th one.
For Chris Gayle, it is his 100th Test match and he has so far managed to score 6933 Test runs at an average of just over 42. His highest score is 333 , which against Sri Lanka and since then he is seen to keep this as his T Shirt number several times.
Before his 100th Test match, he received token of appreciation from the Windies Board.
Here is the list of the West Indians who have played more than 100 Test matches
