It seems Manchester United are working on a war-footing in the transfer market after initial set-backs. They have just closed the signing of Real Madrid’s Casemiro for a package of £70 million, who has passed his medicals in Manchester and penned a four-year contract. Next up, their priority is Ajax’s Antony and United have had a major breakthrough in the winger’s pursuit.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the Red Devils have agreed personal terms with the Brazilian, and the transfer is now subject to negotiating a deal with Ajax. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s former associate at Ajax, Antony has been viewed as a potential solid reinforcement by the club. While United are pushing for a deal, Ajax are refusing to let go another of their brilliant players this summer.

Antony wants Ten Hag reunion at Manchester United

Ajax have already lost as many as six players this summer, along with their manager Erik ten Hag. Sebastian Haller, Ryan Gravenberch, Nicolas Tagliafico, Noussair Mazraoui, Perr Schuurs and Lisandro Martinez have been sold and new manager Alfred Schreuder doesn’t want anymore exits. Moreover, he even plead jokingly to Ten Hag in a presser to stop poaching his former players from the club.
Ten Hag has already snatched Lisandro Martinez from Ajax for a whopping fee of £50 million, and now wants Antony. Schira adds that the winger too wants the move and has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils over a five-year deal which will keep him at Old Trafford through the summer of 2027. Now the clubs will hold face-to-face negotiations in order to finalize the fee for Antony.
United have already failed with their £67 million offer for the 22-year-old as confirmed by a number of reports. They are now preparing a new offer in the range of £75-£80 million to lure Ajax into agreeing a deal. Meanwhile, the Brazilian is too putting pressure on the club, after missing a training session and the subsequent game against Sparta Rotterdam.

Ten Hag has been yearning for attacking reinforcements and it seems he will finally get some. The Dutchman has worked with Antony for two seasons, as he racked up 22 goals and 20 assists in 79 games. Now that the 22-year-old too wishes too reunite with his former boss, United have grown confident of sealing a deal before the deadline day.
Meanwhile, Ten Hag will be preparing his side for a crunch showdown against Liverpool at Old Trafford. However, his new signing Casemiro won’t be featuring against the Reds as he is yet to participate in the his first ever training session with United.
