Liverpool were dealt with a huge blow as Manchester United inflicted a first loss of their season on them. The Red Devils put on a refreshing performance to the surprise of many as they picked their first points of the season with a 2-1 win over Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford on either side of the two halves were enough for United as a sole reply from Mohamed Salah couldn’t reap anything.

However, what made the headlines was Liverpool teammates James Milner and Virgil van Dijk bust up right after Jadon Sancho put United ahead in the 16th minute. Sancho fooled the 36-year-old midfielder to pave his way towards the Liverpool goal as Van Dijk stood still instead of blocking the England winger’s shot which went in. Milner went straight to the center-back and slammed him for his error as reactions to same have flown in.

Milner shouts ‘you go f***ing out to him!’ at Virgil van Dijk

As United took the lead through Sancho, Milner went berserk against Virgil van Dijk who watched the former Dortmund dazzle in the box before slotting the ball into the back of the net. As video footage captured, Milner shouted “you go f***ing out to him” at the Dutch center-back.

The Red Devils went on to claim all three points for the first time with a 2-1 win as Liverpool’s response through Salah was not enough for them. Liverpool now remain without a win in the division as they have two draws and a defeat from the three games they have played so far. In his post match presser, the Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp gave his reaction on his players’ bust up during the game.

He said: “That’s how it is, when you are in a game like this fighting, these guys talk to each other and on the pitch it is a different conversation”.

Meanwhile, former United captain Roy Keane assessed at the half-time: “If you analyse Van Dijk here… he’s been sloppy this season. He’s got to get out! He’s got to move his feet – just look at him here!”

Former Liverpool center-back and Sky Sports pundit Jammie Carragher too expressed his feeling over the two during the second-half as he said: “Something’s going on with James Milner and Virgil van Dijk. They’ve been at each other around 10 or 15 seconds now, screaming at each other. There’s obviously a lot of frustration out there on that pitch, and rightly so. Milner was having a go at him after the first goal and they’re still going at it now.”

Moreover, fans too joined the conversation as one wrote on social media: “Milner getting sat down and then b******ing Virgil van Dijk LOL absolutely shocking defending by both of them #MUNLIV”.

Another added: “Jadon Sancho sends James Milner back to Leeds with that dummy. So cold.”

A third wrote: “James Milner furious with Virgil van Dijk in what appears to be Milner telling him he should’ve been in a different position, he’s screaming and Virgil tries to call him down. Wow. But disappointing goal.”

While another stated: “Milner giving Van Dijk pelters is fair there. His refusal to commit towards opposition players is getting more prominent. A fifth wrote: ‘The nerve of Milner to scold Van Dijk when he got fake shotted by Sancho.”

Liverpool next face Bournemouth at home next weekend as they look to pick their first win of the season.
