Liverpool had to wait until the dying minutes of the game against Newcastle United to find a winner through new boy Fabio Carvalho. The Reds collected only their second win of the season in the comeback win over the Magpies. Carvalho hit the winner in the seventh minute of the injury time, as Darwin Nunez seems to have grabbed the headlines with his celebrations.

The club record signing was in the stands as he served his three-game ban from the red card he picked against Crystal Palace. However, Nunez wasn’t looking as an uninvolved piece as he cheered his new side with full adrenaline. Moreover, he went on to drop a ‘F***-Bomb’ after Carvalho’s winner which was captured on camera by one of the Reds’ supporters.

Darwin Nunez couldn’t contain his joy as Liverpool seal a dramatic comeback win

Liverpool have had a disappointing start to the season so far, as they went into the Newcastle game with just one win from four games. Add to it, Jurgen Klopp has been dealing with a host of injuries as Thiago, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ibrahima Konate, Naby Keita and Calvin Ramsay are all on the treatment table.

Their £85 million signing Darwin Nunez too earned a red card against Palace after headbutting Joachim Andersen, which was followed by a three-game suspension. A team marred with injuries and suspensions, Liverpool were further dealt with a huge blow as the Magpies took a first-half lead through their brand new signing Alexander Isak.

However, the Merseyside club did accomplish a second-half comeback with strikes from Roberto Firmino and Fabio Carvalho. While the Brazilian pulled his side on level at the hour-mark, Carvalho’s winner came in the seventh minute of the added time. Liverpool fans were sent into a frenzy at the full-time whistle, along with Darwin Nunez who can bee seen shouting “F***-You” while celebrating the late win in a video posted by a Twitter handler ‘SamuelLFC’.

Nunez will be back in action for Liverpool’s next game against Everton in the Merseyside Derby showdown as he served the last of his suspension against Newcastle. However, it is uncertain whether Klopp will right away throw his striker into the starting line-up, given he has had only one start to his name in two games so far.

Another concern for the German will be his marksman Mohamed Salah’s form going into the Derby. The top-scorer from last season has only managed 2 goals in 5 games so far. Klopp will be hoping the Egyptian to get back on the score-sheet on regular basis as the Reds kick-off their Champions League campaign from this month as well. Speaking after the Newcastle game he said:

“We know we have to improve. Really we know that. We obviously need still to make a few steps to be as good as we can be. But the next game will be a proper fight, I’m not sure we should think too much about playing football, it will be a proper fight and we have to be ready for that. Then we will see what we get from it.”

The Reds are also finding solutions to their midfield crisis in the transfer market as they hope to sign a midfielder or two before the window shuts. However, no progress has been made with any of their targets as it increasingly seems Klopp will have to make do with the options he had now.
