This week’s SmackDown started as Karrion Kross was seen in the parking lot, as if he got attacked by someone. Drew McIntyre came out from behind and started beating him down. Security guards came out to separate them. Drew left but Karrion looked in immense pain.
After the intro music, the New Day came out to the arena. Backstage Sami Zayn, Solo Sikoa and Jey Uso were seen talking to each other. Roman Reigns called on phone and scolded Jey for messing things up on Monday Night RAW. Sami’s music hit as he was scheduled for a match next.
WWE Smackdown 14.10.2022 Results & Ratings
Match 1 – Sami Zayn defeated Kofi Kingston
The opening match of the night was booked for 8 minutes and it was a good match. It did a very good job in building a further storyline. At Monday Night RAW, Jey refused to help Sami during his match against Matt Riddle. So he got scolded by Roman and tonight Jey helped Sami to secure a pin fall victory.
Backstage Rey Mysterio met Triple H where he wanted to quit WWE because he did not want to fight his son and he was tired of getting hit by his son every week on Monday Night RAW. Triple H 2 came to his office assuring him that there had to be another way.
Match 2 – Braun Strowman defeated Two Enhancement Talents in a two on one handicap match
Another jobber squashing for Braun Strowman, similar to what Omos is doing recently. Speaking of Omos he appeared during the match through the crowd. After the match, MVP said that Braun could not address himself as the Monster among Monsters since there is Omos. Maybe there is a match getting scheduled for Crown Jewel between this duo.
Match 3 – LA Knight defeated Mansoor
It was the debut of the famous NXT star LA Knight and thankfully his Max Dupri character is now dead. It was really a good feeling to hear his theme song once again. About the match it was not very difficult for him to earn a victory over Mansoor. He pinned him with the BFT. After the match he cut is short promo which clearly indicated that he is going to be a heel.
Match 4 – The Damage CTRL defeated Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriguez and Shotzi
It was a good 7 minutes match and it was also the main roster debut for Roxanne Perez, the NXT star was pretty impressive in this match. Bayley pinned Roxanne with a roll up to earn the victory for her side.
Match 5 – Legado Del Fantasma defeated The Hit Row
It was a short 2 minute long match which was mostly dominated by Hit Row. But once they lost the momentum, they lost the match. Cruz Del Toro pinned Top Dolla to earn the victory for his side. This had been a fierce rivalry from the NXT. Good to see them continue in the same feud to on the main roster.
Backstage Sonya Deville was getting interviewed by Kayla Braxton where she was making fun of Liv Morgan for losing to Ronda Rousey at Extreme Rules. Liv Morgan attacked Sonya during the interview and give her a fierce beat down. It was similar to the beat down she gave Lacey Evans recently on Smackdown.
Match 6 – No. 1 Contender’s match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship – Rey Mysterio defeated Ricochet, Solo Sikoa and Sheamus
This match was booked for eleven minutes and this indeed was indeed the best match of the night. karrion Kross was scheduled to be a part of this match but he had to be taken of because of the earlier Attack by Drew McIntyre and he was not medically cleared to compete in this match.
A lot of things happened in this match, including a dream face of between Rey Mysterio and Ricochet, a potential start of a feud between the Bloodline and the Brawling Bruits and a lot more. It was a very entertaining match where Rey pinned Ricochet with a Frog Splash to become the no 1 contender for the WWE Intercontinental championship.
Next up is the return of Bray Wyatt on Friday night Smackdown. Bray returned with a new theme. It was a good theme but it was difficult to say that it did justice to his character. Somehow it reminded the song of Aleister Black. It was definitely not bad though.
After he grabbed the mic, he cut a very strange promo. The promo was more of Breaking the fourth wall. He talked about his real life, how he got released and how she had to suffer after losing the job. He sounded really nervous and emotional. No way it was Bray Wyatt promo. This was very difficult to digest from someone like Bray Wyatt.
When everyone was left confused, the masked figure that is being addressed as Uncle Howdy appeared on the big screen and he asked Bray to come with him. He kept saying cryptic things like forget the future and past, you have no idea who you are, and things like that. The lights went of again and this week’s SmackDown went off air.
Overall it was an exciting episode of Smackdown with a lot of missing things. Firstly, no World Championship segment. Second, no Women’s Championship segment. All these things are pretty necessary for any weekly show. The fatal 4 way match was pretty good. The new angle between the Bloodline and Brawling Brutes was fun too. It was this week’s pay per view standard match for this week’s Smackdown/
And the best part of the night was the return of Bray Wyatt and all the cryptic things about it. It is very difficult to understand where this storyline is heading towards, but we can assure you one thing, it is going to be extremely entertaining. Will there be a Faction behind Bray Wyatt? We still do not know, only time will tell. We give this week’s Smackdown 2.5 out of 5.
