A year ago, nobody could have imagined Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona and moving to PSG. But it did happen as the legendary Barca player had to quit the club following La Liga’s strict wage cap rules, which made his registration in time for the new season impossible. However, the unthinkable events didn’t end there, as Messi was going to link up with long-time fierce rival Sergio Ramos at the Parisian club.

Ramos too had to leave Real Madrid as a free agent after some contract dispute, which too wasn’t anticipated by the football fans. And on top of that he chose the same dressing room as Messi, against whom he had suffered as well as triumphed with Real for years. The footballing world was desperate to see if managing Messi and Ramos in the same team was a trick or treat, as the Spaniard is also a close aide of the Argentine’s GOAT rival Cristiano Ronaldo. Ramos, however has now opened up about his equation with the ‘La Pulga’, after assisting his stunning goal in the last game against Troyes.

Ramos sheds light on sharing a dressing room with Lionel Messi

Apart from the Messi-Ronaldo show, the El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid had much more to it. And it was the ‘little magician’ coming up against one of the game’s best ever defenders Sergio Ramos. The two went at war for their respective clubs and teammates, but never it was imagined they will be fighting together for each other against an opponent. PSG made that a possibility as the two legends of the game are now even seen giving each other a high-five and sharing jokes in the training.

Ramos, who has now joined the list of elite players to play alongside both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo has now talked about his relationship with the record Ballon d’Or winner. As PSG face Benfica in their penultimate Group H game in the Champions League, the former Spain captain was talking to the media as he said of his equation with Messi:

“It’s something that arouses a lot of curiosity. But we have the same objective: to win with PSG. We want to make the team better, with our experience and good performances. My relationship with Messi is excellent. You can see it on the field. There is great respect between the players and a good state of mind. Messi is always at the top level. He continues to be one of the most decisive players in the world. It is a privilege to have him on our team. I see him very focused, like last year. Maybe he has the World Cup in the back of his mind, but he is focused on being good on the pitch.”

Both Messi and Ramos had a tough start to life in Pari, after enduring a first season marred by injuries and time to settle in a star-studded team with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Marquinhos, Marco Verratti. While Messi could only manage 11 goals and 15 assists in 34 games, Ramos missed majority of the last season and could feature a mere 12 times in the league. But both have shrugged-off their struggle from the debut season, and have had a fabulous start to the new one.

Messi, after missing out on a Ballon d’or nomination for the first time ever has so far racked up 11 goals and 13 assists in 16 games in all competitions so far. Ramos too has been consistently playing for the Parisians, making 16 appearances so far and helping the team keep 6 clean-sheets. More importantly, the two former rivals have developed a healthy relationship on and off the pitch in Paris which evidently transpiring on PSG’s form who are yet to lose a game this season in any competition.
