Marcus Rashford is one good player at Manchester United at the moment who is reaping rewards of Erik ten Hag’s appointment as the manager. The former Ajax boss has taken Rashford under his wings and moulding him into one of the lethal forwards in front of the goal. The same was quite evident after the Carrington boy pounced on his marker to head in his 100th career goal for United in his 318th appearance for the club against West Ham.

However, a few months ago Marcus Rashford’s future at Old Trafford was in the air as many had tipped him to leave the ‘Theater of Dreams’. The 25-year-old’s body language too was telling the same as he was troubled with a number of injuries, limiting his game time to just 13 starts in the league. Furthermore, growing interest from potential suitors almost made it certain Rashford will quit United this summer. But here he is, having scored 100th goal for his boyhood club and now being backed by United legend Patrice Evra to go all he way and become one of the best players in the world.

Evra rooting for Rashford legacy at Manchester United

Marcus Rashford has been a total different player from last season at Manchester United, who plagued with injuries managed only 5 goals in 34 games in all competitions. Moreover, there were talks even speculating the England international was unhappy with the club signing Cristiano Ronaldo which won’t allow him playing from the middle. But the No.10 has put behind all the rumours to start the new season under new manager with a bang.

The young forward has already scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists in 15 games across the Premier League and the Europa this season. Although he has been toggled between the two positions of center-forward and the left-wing, Rashford has evidently developed a brilliant relationship with Ten Hag, who is getting the best out of his forward albeit where he plays. Former United full-back Patrice Evra feels the 46-cap England international has found his feet once again under the new gaffer, and is well on course to become of the best. Speaking to Betfair, Evra said:

“I’m not surprised he [Marcus Rashford] has scored 100 goals for the club. He’s going to be one of the best players in the world, for sure. But you have to give him time. There’s been a lot of frustration around him because we know what he’s capable of.

“When we think back to when he started under Louis Van Gaal, you could see the passion there, and the way he would celebrate with his friends. Later, we had a Rashford who looked preoccupied, and as soon as you do that and make one mistake, people kill you and say you’re a bad player.

“Finally, he’s found the right balance, and I can see that he’s happy. He’s smiling, he’s screaming when he scores goals. What was missing was him performing on the pitch, and I’m really pleased that he admitted that. Now, he has a different mindset. I think he’s solved his issues and is really enjoying his football under Erik ten Hag.”

Marcus Rashford does seem to enjoy his time on the pitch for United, and that’s hugely down to Ten Hag. The forward has already credited his blistering form as a result of massive change brought in by the Dutchman, and same has been reciprocated by the United manager who has enjoyed coaching the 100-goal player. As a result, talks of a new contract for Rashford are being heard now to end the speculation over his Man United future once and for all. His current deal expires at the end of the season, which also has an option of a 12-month extension. But the Red Devils are planning to tie him down to a new, long term contract.
