Announcement on Indian team's coach will be made by this evening: Anurag Thakur

The BCCI president Anurag Thakur has made a hint that the board might make a small alteration in its name and interestingly the fans will have a say in deciding the new name an opinion poll which will be held by BCCI on its official website.

“Yes, I had put forward this idea in the meeting today,” Thakur told the Times of India. I think the word ‘Control’ should be replaced by ‘Care’. “We want to do away with the word ‘Control.’ We want to care for our fans, players, coaches, selectors, administrators and all the other stakeholders who matter in cricket.”

BCCI was launched in the year 1928 and in the history of 88 years of the association; Anurag Thakur is the first person to raise a voice to alter the name of the cash-rich board which seems to be a legitimate point. The matter has just been raised and still has a long way to go before taking a final call on it.

There were few who welcomed the idea with open arms and were positive about the change but few opposed the idea as believes that the name should be untouched and the tradition should go on. The matter will be discussed at the next board meetings, till the administrators have to make up their mind regarding the change.

Surely if the matter is raised by the president himself, then there are chances that everyone will someday or other will accept the recommendation of the president.

BCCI was formed in December 1928 and was registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act.

As per BCCI website, a total number of 31 associations are current members of BCCI. BCCI is a full member of International Cricket Council (ICC). Shashank Manohar is the current chairman of ICC whereas the former Pakistani batsman Zaheer Abbas is the current president of ICC.
