An Argentina fan has risked going to jail, after she stripped-off at the Lusail Stadium after the South American nation’s World Cup triumph over France. Argentina finally won the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1986, as fans at the Lusail Stadium as well as across the world were sent into a frenzy. The Qatar final served an enthralling battle between Argentina and France who both were looking for their third title.
And it was Argentina who walked away with a third star above their crest after battling it out for 120 minutes and finally winning it in the penalty shootout. However, the Lionel Messi-led team twice led on the night, and should have won it either in the regular 90 minutes, or at least in the extra time. Argentina gave up a two goal lead in the final ten minutes of the game which they took in the opening 36 minutes. Messi once again somehow put them ahead in the extra-time, only for France to pounce from behind to keep it all square until the penalties.
Argentina fan breaks dressing protocol issued by Qatar Tourism Board as she risks jail now
The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar was heavily criticised for the strict rules it applied to the visiting fans. The Qatar government and the tourism board, in agreement with FIFA prepared a set of rules for the fans to abide by on a number of issues such as the Covid-19, travelling arrangements, dress code, and consumption of alcohol in or around the eight stadiums which hosted the tournament.
Moreover, FIFA had earlier announced that Qatar have relaxed their policy of prohibition of alcohol in public places for the month-long tournament. But just a couple of days before the competition kicked-off, the Qatar Tourism Board along with FIFA announced that the sale of beer will be banned in and around the stadium premises for matchdays. This irked the fans as well as one of FIFA’s official sponsors Budweiser who had set-up stalls at the eight venues to sell beer.
Likewise, Qatar authorities has also issued some serious instructions on the dress code of the fans visiting the country, as they were asked to show some “modesty” with their dressing manner, and avoid wearing clothes which won’t be covering their shoulders and even the thighs. An official statement from the Qatar Tourism Board released before the tournament had read:
“Attitudes towards dressing in Qatar are relaxed, but visitors [men as well as women] are expected to show respect for the local culture by avoiding excessively revealing clothes in public. It is generally recommended for men and women to ensure their shoulders and knees are covered.”
