Argentina’s World Cup win in Qatar saw the South American nation erupt in joy as the crown was coming back to the country after 36 years, when the late Diego Maradona last won it for them in 1986. This time, it was Lionel Messi who even recreated the famous Maradona celebration after the World Cup win, raising the trophy sky-high sitting on the shoulders of his close friend and former teammate Sergio Aguero.
Back in the capital of the Latin country, Buenos Aires, millions of fans were sent into a frenzy after they had witnessed arguably the greatest player of all time Lionel Messi lifting the coveted World Cup trophy. And so wild were the festivities in Buenos Aires that even a female fan was captured on camera stripping naked and celebrating the win.
Argentina fan strips naked, takes the internet by storm
Even before the internet had concluded celebrating Messi and Argentina’s win, the audacious female fan took over the headlines after stripping herself naked on a packed road in Buenos Aires. She even spiced it up with a dance to further sent the netizens berserk watching her on the internet. However, the estimated 4 million people who had gathered in Buenos Aires were so engaged in their celebrations that they were unfazed by the female fan’s antics.
The celebrations commenced right after the thrilling battle between Argentina and France in the final was finally won by Messi and co on penalties. However, it could have been much different given the two goal lead Argentina raced to in the regular time. But Kylian Mbappe had his plans, netting two goals in two minutes to take the game into the extra time.
Just when everybody would have thought Messi had won it in the extra time, scoring a rebound off Lautaro Martinez’s shot, Mbappe once again spoiled the party pulling France level in the 118th minute. And Argentina shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez had to come up big before the penalty shootout to deny Kolo Muani a winner in the last minute of the extra time. The Aston Villa goalkeeper then denied Kingsley Coman’s spot-kick and saw Aurelien Tchouameni pull the trigger wide off the target to lead his team to ultimate glory.
The celebrations were wild even in Qatar at the Lusail Stadium, wherein a female went topless after Argentina’s triumph. However, she risked a harsh punishment, even a jail term given the strict rules and regulation issued by Qatar authorities which prohibited fans from going topless to during the celebrations at the eight venues. Nonetheless, that was Doha and this was Buenos Aires where the female fan was dancing naked on the streets.
Argentina’s open bus parade with the World Cup trophy even had to be abandoned after fans started climbing the bus during the rally. The players were then air-transported by a helicopter to their homes as a result of their safety and security getting compromised during the bus parade. However, that didn’t stop from thousands of fans flocking Messi’s house in Rosario as the captain returned home with the trophy.
