Professional wrestling legend and former WWE star Road Dogg who is a former six times WWE Tag Team Champion recently talked about the War games matches that took place at this year’s Survivor Series and revealed that Triple H pitched for the war games match at Survivor Series year’s ago.

War Games was a signature match type of WCW which started back in 1987. The match was created by Dusty Rhodes and it took place at the WCW Great American Bash pay per view event. From that very time WarGames became a signature match type of WCW. It was one of the most famous match types of WCW.

Road Dogg Reveals Triple H Proposed War Games For Survivor Series Years Ago

But in 2000 WCW organised their last WarGames match as the promotion died on the very next year. Such an excellent match time was the novel to be seen after the death of WCW. But in 2017, Triple H came up with a WarGames match for WWE‘s development territory NXT, which was nearly treated as the main roster of WWE. The first WarGames match of WWE was a huge success and fans expected to see it on the main roster some day as well.

This year, after the retirement of Vince McMahon, his son in law Triple H became the Head of Creative of WWE. He brought some big changes in the promotion, and also introduced the much awaited War Games match in the main roster.

This year at Survivor Series, Triple H replaced the traditional Survivor Series Tag Team elimination match with the WarGames match and it was a big success. There are talks that the match will take place every year on Survivor Series in place of the traditional Tag Team elimination match.

Road Dogg who is a former six times WWE Tag Team Champion recently spoke on his “Oh…You Didn’t Know” podcast where he talked about the War games matches that took place at this year’s Survivor Series and revealed that Triple H pitched for the war games match at Survivor Series year’s ago. He said;

“Yes, and look he’s always wanted to do that, he’s had that in mind, and that’s why we started doing it down there. But yeah, he wanted to do it there. It just wasn’t time yet. And so I don’t disagree with that, we hadn’t had one yet. I don’t think we had had one yet maybe we had at that point.” [NXT had held two WarGames matches in 2017 and 2018, with two more taking place on an NXT TakeOver on the night before Survivor Series].

“But I feel like Triple H liked that match a lot more than Vince did. And I think Vince thinks, and rightfully so by the way, this cannot be argued with, it does step on Hell in a Cell a little bit. Like you can’t have those two close together because it’s a huge cage match and a huge cage match and how do you promote and keep special one or the other? So it is a debate to be had.”

“But yeah, Triple H always thought that WarGames was a great, you know, one of Dusty’s creations that was awesome. And he wanted to carry it forward. So yeah, he always had that idea.”
